Bedford Regional Water Authority Employees Rally Behind Emergency Workers

February 25, 2020

We Are Bedford Fundraiser

“We are Bedford” is a slogan that is being seen on t-shirts circulating around Bedford after the tragic fire at the previous Bedford Middle School in January. It’s a slogan that resonated with the Bedford Regional Water Authority employees as well. So much so, that the second round of t-shirts that are being sold to support Bedford emergency responders are possible due to the fundraising efforts of the BRWA employees.

“Bedford Water is proud to be part of the community that was able to rally around the emergency workers during the extremely sad fire at the old Bedford Middle School,” said Brian Key, Executive Director at the BRWA. “It felt very personal to us, since the BRWA provided the water flowing through the hydrants for fighting the fire at the school.”

The “We Are Bedford” shirt logo has the Bedford Middle School cupola on the front, and the BRWA employee logo on the back. The logo is different than the normal logo that is seen on all material processed at the Authority; this logo represents the employees of the BRWA and their generous donations from their personal accounts.

The Authority’s Human Resources Manager, Melissa Meador, had the idea when she saw the first round of shirts being sold. She saw the opportunity where BRWA employees could come together to support the local community’s emergency workers.

Shirts are being sold at the Bedford Welcome Center on Thursday, February 27 from 3pm – 6pm. Shirts are $20 and all the money is being donated to the emergency workers who helped at the fire.

This initiative is headed up by Amy Laughlin with Acute Designs providing the shirt production. Members of the BRWA staff along with other community leaders will be onsite to help sell the shirts on February 27.
