Candy hearts inscribed with bike sayings

If Cyclists Wrote Candy Hearts

There is a backlash with Valentine's Day among some singles or couples tired of the sappy sentiments. But we think you can never have too much love for your bike!  Celebrate the day by treating it to a little air in the tires, lube on the chain, hey, why not spring for a complete bike spa treatment--a bike tune up at a bike shop!  Then invite someone special to take a bike ride with you. February is the month of bike love!

Single happy hour in Logan Square
The Best Kind of Date is a Bike Date
In celebration of the season of love, the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a happy hour for singles Thurs, Feb. 9,  and Earth Rider will be there to spread the word that the best kind of date is a bike date.  We'll be spinning the bike wheel of fortune and giving away great prizes and sweet treats. Celebrate love in the saddle!  Register here on the Chamber's web site.
Bike Swapping the Right Way
Earth Rider had a table at the Brazen Dropouts annual bike swap in Madison in January and we had so much fun meeting bike people we're doing it again at the Chicagoland Winter Bike Swap on Sun., Feb. 12 at the Kane County Fair Grounds in St. Charles, IL.  If you're not a frequent swap attendee, read our blog to learn the ins and outs.  At the swap be sure to pop in to hear our presentation Ebike Etiquette Your Mother Never Taught You.
50 squats in 30 days
If you are looking to do some body work now to improve your cycling performance later you should consider doing an exercise known as a squat. Your legs are used heavily on a bike to spin the pedals and propel the bike and strengthening them will make a big difference in how fast and long you can ride.  Check out our blog to learn why and how to do a squat and some variations to mix it up.
In the Neighborhood
The 606 Barber Shop
The first in a series of spotlights on our small business neighbors.
We witness a steady stream of customers of all ages going in and out of The 606 Barber Shop, right next door to Earth Rider at 1877 N Milwaukee Ave., shaggy hair going in, clean and tidy coming out. These master barbers have been at this location for 9 years and have a cozy, club house atmosphere that includes live snakes (in an aquarium).
Upcoming Breakfast Rides and Brewery Rides
We've put together a schedule of group rides for 2023 with jaunts to different neighborhoods and stops for breakfast on some rides and brews on others. If you've resolved to do more cycling in 2023 you can't beat these rides--we plan the routes and gather new friends to go along. Put one or more on your calendar and join us starting in April.
