Dear ISL families,
I am sure you have heard about the COVIC-19 virus. I am writing to let you know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is a top priority, and we are closely watching all developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As a Type 2 school, in all emergency situations, we follow the guidelines of the state of Louisiana and Orleans parish.
You may already know, each of our campuses has a registered nurse and our nurses have sent information to families. Our administration has been monitoring and will continue to monitor information and updates from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Louisiana Department of Health. We are also working closely with NOLA Public Schools and local and state agencies to ensure plans are in place to keep our school community safe and updated with the latest information.
At this time, prevention is our best safeguard. The CDC recommends the actions below to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses such as the common cold, flu, and the Coronavirus.
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Keep your children home when they are sick and remain home until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
International School of Louisiana is committed to keeping our students, staff, and families informed as the situation evolves. Please make sure that your contact information on record at the school is up-to-date so you will receive important, timely messages from the school, via text and email.
