CCLBA Bi-Weekly Update | July 27, 2016
TROLLEY TOUR RECAP, PROPERTIES FOR SALE, & WELCOMING A NEW MEMBER TO OUR TEAM!

Thanks to everybody for planning and organizing the trolley tour of the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, as the turnout was absolutely terrific!  Over fifty people turned out to brave the summer heat and tour five CCLBA homes immediately available for homeownership! Many thanks to U.S. Bank and the Greater Auburn Gresham CDC (GAGDC) for all of their hard work and participation, as both were terrific partners.

This was the kick-off event for the CCLBA's homebuyer program as we are looking to soon have a number of properties available that will be reserved exclusively for homeowners.  More properties will be added soon, so stay tuned!  To view more pictures of the event, please click here for more information.

As always, the Land Bank has a number of homes that are currently available for purchase; please click here for a spreadsheet of all inventory or visit our website for general information & more CCLBA news.

WELCOMING DARLENE DUGO!

The CCLBA would like to introduce and welcome Darlene Dugo as the Land Bank's new Senior Acquisitions Manager.  Darlene comes to the Cook County Land Bank Authority from Mercy Portfolio Services, a subsidiary of Mercy Housing, Inc. where she served (2009-2016) as Regional Vice President responsible for operations, management, and oversight of the City of Chicago’s $168 Million Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) Award.  For more than a decade-and-a-half before joining Mercy Portfolio Services, Darlene served as Regional Director, Housing and Community Development for Fannie Mae. Darlene was responsible for business development activities and operations for an 18-state Central Region with 20 Community Business Centers.

All of us at the Land Bank would like to give Darlene a hearty welcome, as we're excited to have her as a member of the CCLBA team!

LEADERSHIP GREATER CHICAGO SELECTS ROB ROSE

The CCLBA is excited to announce that our Executive Director, Rob Rose, has been selected as a Class of 2017 Fellow by Leadership Greater Chicago!

This select group of 38 accomplished and diverse individuals represents a cross-section of professionals from the corporate, nonprofit, government, and education sectors. They share the goal of effecting real change in the community.

Selected from more than 120 highly qualified candidates nominated by their employers, the Fellows will engage in a 10-month program where they will be immersed in key socioeconomic issues facing our city and the region, including education, economic development, healthcare, housing and infrastructure, criminal justice, and race. Additionally, the Fellows will have an opportunity to engage in small group projects of their choice to directly address a challenge or need in the community. These projects will be informed by the information and ideas shared in the classroom, engagement with other Fellows, and personal experiences. The full release can be found here for more information.

  GENERAL REHAB GUIDELINES

The following includes important guidelines and procedures that the CCLBA would like every prospective homeowner and developer to know who wishes to do business with the Land Bank.

  • Properties must be professionally redeveloped within 12 months of sale in accordance with local municipal building codes and procedures.  Rehab process will be supported with periodic monitoring in order to ensure compliance.  Quality of craftsmanship will will impact future transactions.
  • CCLBA places a soft mortgage on the property to prevent selling without redevelopment.  This mortgage will be released prior to the sale to homeowner provided the rehab has been completed.
  • CCLBA does not provide financing for the purchase or rehab; however, CCLBA can make a referral to resources that will provide technical assistance & financing.
A one-page pamphlet can be found here, and we encourage everyone to visit our website or call us at (312) 603.8015 for more information on how to engage with the Land Bank.
