Dear <<First Name>>,

Lots to do this month! You could be growing your own beer, mending your electronic gadgets, taking part in a banana bake off or doing some refreshing gardening.

Best wishes,

Transition Kentish Town Core Group

Grow your own beer

Last chance to buy your hop plant and take part in growing hops to make a batch of local beer!

We’ll be distributing the hop plants on Monday evening (24th February) at The Grafton pub on Prince of Wales Road between 7pm and 9pm.

Buy your own hop plant for £10 to take part!

We have some hop plants available at concessionary rates too. Just email us if you'd like one of those.

The Great Fairtrade Banana Bake Off

Next week is the first week of Fairtrade Fortnight – a time to expand our circle of compassion beyond the importance of localised food systems to farmers in developing countries.

While we need to source as much of our food as we can locally, there are many ‘exotic essentials’ that can only be imported from overseas: bananas, lemons, tea, coffee, chocolate and spices. More equitable forms of global trade – like Fairtrade – must go hand in hand with sustainable localised food systems.

Our friends at the Camden Fairtrade Network are running a 'Great Fairtrade Banana Bake Off' over the next couple of weeks to raise awareness of the damaging banana price war being waged by UK supermarkets which is depressing global banana prices and driving producers into poverty.

You can enter the Great Fairtrade Banana Bake Off here.
