BULLETIN #4 - September 26, 2013

Focus on...Environmental Health Consulting

Are you adequately informed about your home? Are you looking to improve your indoor spaces to improve health? Environmental Health Consulting can help create a home that is as healthy as possible for you and your family. Founded by Anne Stewart, Environmental Health Consulting is an Oakville-based consultancy that provides assessments, consulting, education and design to create healthier spaces for homes and small businesses. Contaminants in homes that may effect health include dust, mold, toxic pollutants, chemicals, building materials  and electrically-induced fields.

Environmental Health Consulting can check them all!  Having these factors assessed is preventative health. This year, Environmental Health Consulting has stepped up to support cancer prevention with a generous pledge of $500. Between now and October 31, Environmental Health Consulting will donate $50 to WHEN for every Health Home Assessment they complete. Additionally, they will be asking their clients to match that donation. Their Healthy Home Assessment investigators will test your air quality, electrical/magnetic and high frequency fields, lead, and water quality, and offer practical advice. WHEN is very pleased to have Environmental Health Consulting participating in the Cancer Prevention Challenge, and we hope you will help them raise funds for cancer prevention.

Recipes for good health

Every mom knows that kids love to dip. This white bean dip recipe, contributed by Laura Beazley, is a favourite with her two young boys. Besides being a source of delicious kiddie entertainment, this dip is rich in antioxidants and fiber. With a blast of raw garlic, which research
has shown may help prevent lung cancer, and a hint of Vitamin C-rich lemon, this dip a wonderful cancer-fighting accompaniment for snack time.
