Every Day Faith
One doesn’t need to look too far to be reminded of our need for God’s grace and strength to be poured out in not only our own lives, but in the hearts and circumstances of so many around us. We value your participation in the PAOC’s discipleship ethos, Every Day Faith, which reminds us of the importance of becoming grounded disciples of Christ. March is full of activity in our lives and churches as we gear up towards Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter. We encourage you this month to consider four brief words:  He Gave. We Give. Paul’s words to the church in Galatia (Galatians 1:3-5) pinpoint exactly why He gave. It was the Father’s will. Christ became a “sin-offering” to God on behalf of all mankind, that we would know salvation—that we would be rescued from the sin that surrounds us every day.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the
will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Because Christ gave, we can also give. We give the message of salvation and forgiveness of sins to those who must hear it.  We give of ourselves, our time, our talents, our treasures, our very lives, for kingdom work.  As we live out a faith that is real every day, the message of the Cross can shine through. People are naturally drawn to those with generous hearts. May your hearts, your homes and God’s house overflow with generosity as you share the truth about Easter in the weeks ahead. Let’s focus on the significance of the Sacrifice. Let’s pray for a harvest of new believers, let’s give endlessly of ourselves, let’s share stories of life change and let’s read of His sacrifice together with a new understanding. This is who we are.  We are a generous people.  We give every day.

Be generous in all things as God has been generous to us.

Bob Osborne, Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Westside King’s Church in Calgary, AB recently shared some insightful thoughts with testimony magazine (March 2013 issue) on defining meaning and purpose of material things.  “The Jesus way is the continual use of material things for the help and blessing of people.” In his article, Bob suggests that the way of Jesus is strengthened by a few simple practices—five points that may help guide a future sermon or conversation about giving.  To read more in testimony’s new Every Day Thoughts feature, click here.

How do you share the next step after salvation?
This booklet lays a firm foundation for new Christians to build their faith. Its easy-to-read style is organized by questions every new Christian wonders: What happened to me? Where do I go from here? What does God expect of me? How can I understand the Bible? How can I pray effectively? How can I know the will of God? What are the two baptisms?

The answers are clear and point to the Bible for more discovery. It’s the booklet you want to give every person who comes to salvation through your ministry…and it’s economical enough to do it! A great follow-up after Easter.  Also includes suggested daily Bible readings from the Book of Mark, a pattern for study, weekly scripture reading and Bible memorization.   Consider getting The New Believer’s FRIEND Handbook and journeying closely with someone who is brand new in the faith.

Because Christ gave, we too can give.  Give of yourself to those who matter most -- share grace with your family!
