Just prior to the pandemic hitting the Cape Fear Region, Cape Fear Collective partnered with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and RTI International to launch a regional skills analysis - Cape Fear Talent. In the midst of the uncertainty and changing norms, we considered closing the survey so as not to add one more thing on your to do list.
But as unemployment continues to rise - according to the News & Observer, in the last six weeks more than 730,000 people have filed for unemployment as a result of the pandemic in North Carolina alone - we felt it was important to leave the survey open as we look toward recovery efforts.
For economic recovery it is incredibly important to have data on growing industries and skills needed by our regional employers. Equipped with this data we can work with our education and training providers to develop and support programs that provide employees with the required skills for in-demand jobs. The survey data will provide current and regionally-specific information for policy makers in workforce, education and economic development.
As an employer, whether in a large corporation, small business, nonprofit organization or government agency, please take 15-minutes to complete the survey
We appreciate your support and look forward to providing an analysis of the data later this year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions or issues.
