Shipmate News - 15 Apr 2016

I was up and about very early this morning to be at the official opening of Victoria’s newest marina at Wyndham Harbour. An 8:30am start to proceedings saw more suits there than boat shoes, but all went smoothly with the Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas performing the official opening of what is a very welcome new facility for the Victorian boating community. See more details in this edition.

But while Wyndham Harbour is the big news down south, it’s the boat show buzz that’s creating a lot of attention up north. The Australian Boat show season kicks off in about 4 weeks time with Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast Marine Expo, Riviera Festival and the Boutique Boat Display (at the Sovereign Islands), which means the Gold Coast will certainly be the place to be in May.

And while here at Shipmate we get very excited about all things marine and especially love the boat shows, we’re super excited this year with the imminent launch of Shipmate Marine Directory – The recreational boaters essential guide, SEQ print edition.

Similar in format to the print edition we’ve been publishing annually in Victoria since 2005, the SEQ edition is a 128 page, full colour pocket book, chock full of information for boaters. A conduit between the marine industry and recreational boaters incorporating a complete A-Z of marine trades, services, yacht clubs, marinas, shipyards, marine organisations and everything else a boater could possibly need.

Best of all, 10,000 copies will be distributed free to boaters via marinas, shipyards, yacht clubs and selected marine businesses in SEQ. Distribution starts next week so make sure you ask for your free copy.

Of course if you can’t wait for the print edition, make sure you visit our website at where you’ll find marine businesses listed, by category, from right around Australia and not only that, get the latest marine news, views and info as it happens, as well as real time marine weather, tides and much more.

And now to this edition of Shipmate News with a round up of what’s been happening in the marine world from around the country. Plenty to tell you about in this edition so, sit back, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers, I’ll see you out on the water
