03 April 2017

Our thoughts at this time are with all of those across Queensland, and NSW, affected by ex Tropical Cyclone Debbie. The devastation and disruption caused by the heavy winds, monsoonal rain and flooding is hard to imagine. While recovery efforts are well underway, the after-effects of the Cyclone will be felt by many, for a long time.

The on-going efforts of all of the Emergency Services, the ADF, the countless relief and charitable organisations and agencies and volunteers, is to be applauded. Within our own industry, major marine insurers like Club Marine, Nautilus and Pantaenius always swing quickly into action in times like this and the Boating Industry Association too has quickly responded. They’re providing both, financial and on-the-ground assistance to help marinas, and industry members affected by the devastation. A BIA support crew departed yesterday heading to Far North Queensland.

While that's where much of our thoughts have been of recent days, of course, elewhere life goes on and, in this edition, we've got another full round up of marine news from around the country. Just a reminder though that we post news regularly to our website at www.shipmate.com.au so make you check in on a regular basis.

And while we’re on that note, we’re delighted to report that last month we had over 36,000 visits to the Shipmate website with resulted in nearly 200,000 page views. That’s equates to over 36,000 occasions, just in the last month, that boaters visited our site looking for products, services or information.

If you’re a marine business and want to be seen by your customers, talk to us and we’ll show you how little it costs to reach a large chunk of your customers.

Well that’s it again from me for another couple of weeks, sit back, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers. See you out on the water
