With the boat show season in full swing, coming up this weekend it’s Melbourne’s turn. The Melbourne Boat Show, starting Friday (tomorrow) and running through till 5pm on Monday is shaping up to be a beauty.

With something for the whole family the show includes a huge line up of boats, gear, tackle, as well as an impressive line-up of exciting presenters and guests on the main stage. There’s kids activities, boating safety and education, a Marinas Hub and even ‘Discover Sailing’, a great opportunity to get to know the joys of sailing.

And speaking of sailing, congratulations to a friend of mine, a long time sailor, well known marine industry legend, Alistair Murray, Chairman of Ronstan, on the board of Australian Sailing, BIAV, AIMEX, (and others), recipient of multiple industry awards and all round nice guy, who picked up a gong in the Queens Birthday Honours earlier this week, well deserved!

And closer to home, the shipmate website continues on it’s trajectory with boaters visiting the site in droves. Visits to the site are up again this month to date and if the daily average keeps up we’re on target to reach over 45,000 visits for the month.

So, what’s the attraction? Well apart from being the go-to site for boaters looking for marine products, trades and services, our Shipmate News section keeps boaters (and the industry) up to date with what’s happening around Australia and now we’ve added Shipmate TV, a dedicated video page. But stay tuned, we’re still only just scratching the surface, we're on a mission, with plenty more to come.

In the meantime, we’ve collated all of our news over the last two weeks and it’s all included here, so sit back, take a moment to browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers. See you out on the water
