Shipmate News - 01 April 2016

Welcome to Shipmate News, just in case you hadn't noticed, we've got a 'new look', we hope you like it. It is after all what many of you have been asking for, larger images, easy to browse through, easy to read, mobile and tablet friendly.

While the look is different, the type of content hasn’t changed, marine news, views and information from around the country (and overseas) of interest to boaters and/or the marine industry in Australia.

The new format is just the latest development in our ongoing effort here at Shipmate, to remain an effective conduit between the marine industry and recreational boaters around Australia.

And Shipmate News is not the only thing we’ve been working on. Very soon boaters in South East Queensland (SEQ) will see the launch of our SEQ print edition of Shipmate Marine Directory - the recreational boaters essential guide. This handy, full colour, 128 page pocket wonder, incorporating a complete A-Z of marine trades and services in SEQ, lists everything from marinas and shipyards, boat sales outlets, chandleries, repairers, fabricators, cleaners, detailers and much more, it even includes tide charts. And what’s more, 10,000 copies will be distributed free to boaters in SEQ.

Out at the end of April, make sure you ask for your free copy of Shipmate Marine Directory, available from yacht clubs, marinas, boat shows, marine organisations and selected marine businesses.

And now to this edition of Shipmate News and there’s certainly plenty going on, especially with things starting to heat up as the Australian boat show season prepares to get underway. In this edition we’ve got everything from boats blowing up and catching fire, through to charity concerts, new marinas, new models, sailing events, fishing and much more.

As always, we love getting your feedback, so don’t be backwards in coming forward, email us at and let us know what you think… About anything; this newsletter, Shipmate in general, issues going on around the country, news articles and anything else that floats your boat.

In the meantime, sit back for a moment, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers, see you out on the water
