01 February 2017

This is the first Shipmate News for 2017 and we wish all our friends a happy and prosperous new year.

I have to admit it’s been hard getting back into harness after a break, we’ve spent the best part of the last month on board boats cruising around Port Stephens in NSW and then back home in Victoria around Port Phillip. Our timing has been perfect too in terms of the weather, warm days and sunshine wherever we’ve been.

But now that we’re back we’ve got plenty of marine news and a lot packed into this edition, Including news just in that the Volvo Ocean Race has just announced that Melbourne will be a stopover again late this year.

In other news we’ve got information on new boat models, new engine releases, new technology, updates on upcoming boat shows, including the new and improved Gold Coast International Boat Show & Marine Expo, this year to be held 17-19 March, of which Shipmate is a Supporting Sponsor.

We’ve also commenced production of the second annual Shipmate Marine Directory, SEQ print edition. A localized, 128 page, full colour, pocket directory, listing nearly 500 marine businesses located in SEQ and listed by category.

10,000 copies will again distributed free to boaters via yacht clubs, marinas, shipyards, marine organisations and selected marine businesses. If you would like more details or are interested in advertising, give us a call on 03 9399 9194 or email info@shipmate.com.au

Well that’s it from me again, but just a reminder that if you’ve got news that’s of interest to boaters anywhere in Australia, please let us know so we can include it in Shipmate News which goes out twice per month, on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Cheers, see you out on the water

John Zammit
