Shipmate News

01 December 2016

With about three weeks left to go before the Christmas break, to me there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. But it's not just me, because the news keeps rolling in about so much activity currently going on in the marine world.

While we get to hear the news as it breaks, there's still a lot going on behind closed doors and a good example of that is the recent announcement that the Gold Coast International Marine Expo (GCIME) is moving to March in 2017, just four months away. But that's not all, going forward the show will be operated and managed with the support of the Boating Industry Association the operators of the Sydney Boat Show.

And Riviera have also announced that the annual Riviera Festival, normally run in conjunction with the GCIME, will also move to the same dates in March.

There's no doubt that many in the industry will welcome the move back to two stand alone shows (GCIME and Sanctuary Cove), but with only two months between the two major shows in Queensland it will be interesting to see how the industry reacts. Let's hope it's a positive move, after all they are both great shows and both offer something different.

Now while that's the big news, that's not all that's been going on. We've got a raft of interesting articles again in this edition from right around the country. And here at Shipmate, we haven't exactly been standing still either.

Distribution of the Victorian print edition of Shipmate Marine Directory has commenced, so boaters in Victoria should look out for that and we've now turned our attention to the production of the second, annual, South East Queensland print edition. If you have a current entry in the SEQ edition, please visit the website at www.shipmate.com.au and check your listing and let us know if you need any changes.

We'll be producing 10,000 copies again and they'll be distributed free to boaters via yacht clubs, marinas, shipyards, marine organisations and selected marine business. If you'd like any information regarding advertising please call or email us at info@shipmate.com.au and we'll send you out our Media Kit.

That’s it from me again till next time, so sit back, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers, see you out on the water

John Zammit
