Find a job that you love and you’ll never have to work another day in your life. That saying has, at various times, has been attributed to Mark Twain, Confucius and a number of others.
Irrespective of who said it first, nevertheless, it’s so true. You see, I’m in the fortunate position where my lifestyle, my hobby and my work all seem to blend seamlessly into one. While life is always busy, It’s hard to tell if I’m working or having fun, I’m enjoying both.
But why bring this up again now? Because I’ve just been reminded (again) of what a great industry I’m a part of. One of the things I’ve been involved in for the last few years is the annual, Australian Marine Export & Superyacht Awards, in which I am fortunate to be one of the Judges. Having just spent the last week judging the awards again this year I was blown away by the high standard of the nominations, which obviously made the task very difficult. The capacity, the ingenuity and the resourcefulness of individuals and organisations within our industry, is nothing short of amazing and made me very proud of our marine industry in Australia.
Run under the auspices of the Australian international Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia, the winners of the various awards will be announced during the ASMEX conference to be held on the Gold Coast 22 – 24 May 2017, leading up to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
