Ever get that feeling of Déjà vu? Well I’m having it now, It’s the start of a new financial year, Great Britain is leaving the EU and going back to… Well who really knows? We’re having another election… Didn’t we just have a federal election? Oh no, that’s right, we just changed the Prime Minister… again.
But while the politicians get on with what they do, the marine industry rolls on regardless and that’s been the case right around the country and we’ve got all the news in this edition. The 2016 Melbourne Boat Show has concluded and by all reports it was one of the best shows ever. The BIA in Victoria is doing a great job, not just with the show, but on a number of fronts with issues affecting boating and the industry, including working with yacht clubs and the government to address the silting problem at the top end of Port Phillip in Hobsons Bay. More on that below.
We’ve got news of the buyout of Elandra by Maritimo, news of the next generation Volvo IPS with the world’s first installation in a Riviera 4800 Sport yacht, Riva’s new offering which is set to become another Icon and of course details of the Adelaide Boat Show which is on right now and runs till Sunday.
On a slightly different note, we’re getting great feedback about the first SEQ print edition of Shipmate Marine Directory which we launched in May, with yacht clubs and marinas running out of copies and requesting more and we’re about to start on the next annual Victorian print edition.
We’ve also turned our attention to NSW with marine businesses there taking up our offer of a free listing online at www.shipmate.com.au and we are getting very close to the critical mass, in terms of listings, to kick off a pocket print edition of Shipmate Marine Directory in NSW… Watch this space.
If you’re a marine business (anywhere in Australia) that supplies products or services direct to boaters, then head to www.shipmate.com.au and submit your listing, it’s free. And if you’re a boater looking for marine products, trades or services, Shipmate is where you’ll find what you’re looking for. That’s also free, no subscriptions, no gimmicks, no gotcha’s.
Well that’s it from me again this time, so sit back, browse through and enjoy the read
Cheers, see you out on the water
