01 June 2017

I’ve just spent the last week up on the Gold Coast. The first couple of days at the ASMEX (Australian Superyacht and Marine Export) conference followed by the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. And what was really pleasing was the positive vibe emanating around the marine industry in general.

The 2017 Sanctuary Cove Show was a resounding success, there was a real buzz about the place with over 300 exhibitors, the village streets full of all things nautical and the marina full of countless global, Australian and Queensland debuts. Magnificent weather saw the show attract over 42,000 visitors and the feedback from exhibitors all positive. See the full report in this edition.

And as the show season rolls on, the Melbourne Boat Show is next, gearing up to launch later this month. In this edition we have a number of reports about what to expect from the show and from what I’m hearing, it’s shaping up pretty well. Make a note of the dates it’s on 16 – 19 June and again, more details below.

Back home again and we’ve been really busy as work continues with regular updates to our website at www.shipmate.com.au We’ve certainly struck a chord with boaters with visits to the site in April reaching over 43,000 with over 200,000 page views, and in May, almost 42,000 visits and over 600,000 page views. If you haven’t visited lately, check us out, we’ve recently added Premium Listings and now feature Shipmate TV.

Another bumper edition again this time with a full round up of marine news from around the country, so sit back, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers, see you out on the water

John Zammit
