Hi Everyone,

The last month has been a big one for change, and although we appreciate that a lot of good things can be born from change, we acknowledge that this is a particularly hard time for many.

We want to assure you that the safety of our participants and staff remains our top priority, and we certainly haven't budged from our commitment to providing safe, health conscious & engaging supports.
Staying informed
We'd encourage everyone to keep informed, and we'd recommend doing so via the Australian Government  to avoid any misinformation. They currently have a dedicated website and an App for Apple & Android available. We will continue to provide updates as they come.
Silver linings
There are good things happening amongst all this uncertainty too, and we don't want to miss any of them. We've listed a few things that have caught our attention locally:

🌟Newy Burger Co are providing free soup to anyone who needs it, no questions asked. They have been able to use donated stock from other restaurants that have closed, so they're reducing waste as well.

🌟Newcastle bar and distillery Earp Distilling Co. pivots to making hand sanitiser, as bar turns to bottle shop. For the story click here.

🌟Our neighbours in Wallsend, Wildflower Espresso, are running a "buy a healthcare worker a coffee" pay-it-forward campaign

🌟The FOOdFIGHTERS of Newcastle - this page was developed to support our local hospitality industry and to make it easier for you, our customers, to find out who is delivering to your door or providing no contact dash in/drop off of their food on one site. Some have been a lot less formal, and include checking in on a neighbour, somebody at risk, or a relative (safely) to see if they need anything.

🗣It's also timely to remember that your reactions are most important than ever. If you're out doing your groceries, and you see someone not coping (because let's face it, it's become a lot more stressful for able bodied people, so image having different sensory processing) #ChangeYourReactions and do your part.

We are busy working behind the scenes to finalise resources to help celebrate your knowledge!

We've designed some activities with to aim to reinforce your knowledge of the ins and outs of your versatile carer positions. The time spend on these activities will be clocked, so although you may not have as many contact hours, you'll still be able to add a few hours to your roster.

We will have more information available on this soon!
Due to covid-19, the NDIS has implemented changes surrounding plans, payments, cancellations and supports.

You can access the full rundown of changes via our NDIS Updates tab
Unsolicited Advice
There are a lot of these recommendations circulating, but there's good reason - they help!

Try to keep a schedule. This also starts better if you make your bed, maybe try to organise your WFH tasks, write a To Do list, and keep track of your goals.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. If you're WFH, homeschooling, in quaratine - whatever - be good to yourself!

Listen to a podcast - we can not recommend ListenAble by Dylan Alcott and Angus O'loughlin enough. It's got something for everyone.

Try to do some sort of physical activity many yoga studios and gyms are streaming their classes live. If you're not sold, there's a free 7 Minute workout app that is free.

Write a Journal. Honestly, give it a go. You might be surprised how much better you feel by writing or drawing your thoughts down on paper.

If you're feeling a bit low, take a break from the news and social media (check indirectly with the app of via the website)

Please get in contact with us if you have any questions, or are looking for some friendly reassurance.
