Bigger is Better

It only seems five minutes since we put out our last edition of STANDbites but so much has happened since then!
Stand Agency has grown considerably in the last few months, not just in terms of the people, but also our office space. We felt our office was getting a little intimate so we knocked down a wall and doubled our working space by taking over next door.
To fill up the space we’ve been bringing new faces to the team, and we’ve been keeping ourselves busy by bringing in new clients left right and centre. With our sights set on national domination we’ve started working on a number of projects in Peterborough. Peterborough Environment City Trust, for example, is an environmental charity based in Peterborough working on sustainability and environmental behaviour change projects. We’re raising awareness of their annual Green Festival event regionally.
Recently, Peterborough was awarded £3million by the Technology Strategy Board to develop and test innovative ideas for how smart, future-proofed cities could work. The project is called Peterborough DNA and we’re supporting them with their communications strategy and delivery.
As we develop the agency, it’s great to see Stand extending its presence around the country.

NACFB launches vital resource for SMEs struggling to find finance

The National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) launched a new online matching service this month, in response to growing evidence that SMEs are still unable to access the array of lending options that exist beyond the high street banks.

The first website of its kind in the UK,, will help SMEs to unlock finance from the broad spectrum of lenders in the UK – from high street and challenger banks to peer to peer and alternative lenders – via an independent broker.

Marcus Grimshaw, Chairman of the NACFB, spoke on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, and the launch was covered across national and regional media, including, The Independent, The Daily Mirror, The Metro, City AM and The Liverpool Echo.

In case you missed it, one of our newer recruits, Lara Hallett, recently reflected on The Sun’s new partnership with the Coppa Feel campaign and its decision to raise awareness of breast cancer on Page 3. Love it or hate it, The Sun is the highest circulating daily in the UK and can have a massive impact. Read HERE to find out what Lara thought.
National Cleavage Day – has it made you buy a Wonderbra?

Wonderbra’s National Cleavage Day reached our shores on 27th March this year, with coverage on the ‘formula’ for the perfect cleavage in the Daily Mail, and the hashtag trending on Twitter. A quick Wikipedia search reveals the annual celebration started in South Africa in 2002 as: ‘a way to solemnise women's independence and power in all facets of life, from their careers to their relationships to their own destiny.’ Needless to say we didn’t celebrate National Cleavage Day at Stand Towers… we found other ways to show our independence and power! 
Our favourite story
Three cheers for Sebastian Handley in Lewisham!  He has created London’s smallest (and coolest) library using a phone box.  He bought the traditional, red phone box for £1 from British Telecom and spent another £500 fitting it out and stocking it with books.  The library depends on people donating a new book to replace the one they ‘borrow’ every time they use it.  And so far it’s worked – who says there’s no community spirit in London? 
Lara Hallett
Lara is an Account Director at Stand and brings international communications experience, having held positions in New York, Paris and London. A colleague of Laura’s from her Kindred Agency days, Lara has worked with public and private sector companies alike, with a focus on behavioural change campaigns. She brings considerable expertise in the renewables and financial sectors to the team. 
Catherine Dreghorn
Catherine joins Stand as a Senior Account Executive, split across Stand’s financial and healthcare clients. With six years of experience in the world of copywriting and editing before joining the world of PR, she’s certainly used to producing high quality written content and working out what her audience wants.
