Community Development Update

Community Development Update

Wellness Week arrived amidst snow, wind, horizontal rain with occasional sunshine! Together we have reflected on the 5 ways to wellbeing ~ connect ~ be active ~ take notice ~ keep learning ~ give ; and have realised the wonderful opportunities in our community to support our wellness. Next week is National Mental Health Awareness Week which ties in nicely. The theme is 'reimagine well being together'. You can find some fantastic resources to support mental health online https://www.mentalhealth.org.nz/get-help/getting-through-together/

The community development team recognise the importance of wellbeing and mental health for our communities and are looking forward to hosting Blueprint Health for a MH101 workshop in November with some of our front line community leaders. We will also be facilitating some smaller workshops and groups and look forward to an inspiring guest speaker to join us in March 2021 to share their journey and strategies for strong mental health. Feel free to contact Penny to find out more.

Don't forget our community clean up this Sunday 20th September from 10am - meet at the Tekapo Community Hall (promo attached to insert).

Great support for our first Arts on Tour Performance on Thursday night: From Scratch provided an entertaining evening of percussion and rhythm using all sorts of improvised 'instruments' from rocks, vacuum cleaner pipes, to marbles and bowls. We look forward to hosting more of these amazing quality arts shows in our community. Thanks to Creative Communities and Mackenzie Community Development Project for their support.

A warm message of aroha to you all Xx
 Penny
