Community Grief Group

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many folks in our congregation have experienced events in their lives that are marked by grief and trauma. As a faith community, we are seeking to create a space where folks are invited to gather, share their stories, and join together in the process of grieving.

Over the past two months, Sandy Ische has been preparing to lead a group that will meet weekly to learn more about understanding and living with grief. This is an open invitation to our community to be a part of that group. The group will set their own meeting schedule, and will likely meet for 10-12 weeks.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please feel free to reach out directly to Pastor Dee ( or Sandy Ische ( We look forward to offering this group for all who feel called to participate and share in the process of grieving with others.

In Our Prayers...
  • Joe Apple: Please continue praying for Joe as he recovers from his bicycle accident last week. Joe is home from the hospital, and would welcome visitors at this time.
  • Damian Hareb: Damian has asked that we share his request for prayers for clarity with the church body.
  • Denny & Betty Klaseus: The Klaseus' have asked for prayer on behalf of all in the world during this time of so much unrest.
  • Larry Angione: Larry has asked for the congregation to continue joining him in prayer for the Ukrainian people.
The Eurasia region of the Church of the Nazarene recently published an update about the work being done on the Polish-Ukrainian border, which you can read by clicking here. One of those leading the efforts in Ukraine is Teanna Sunberg, who will be one of the guest speakers at our district Nazarene Missions International (NMI) conference this June.

If you'd like to donate toward the relief efforts being done in Ukraine by the Nazarene church, we invite you give online through our PushPay giving portal, and select "Ukraine Relief" from the drop-down menu under 'Fund'. You can also give your cash or checks on Sunday morning — just be sure to note "Ukraine" in the memo line or on the giving envelope.
If you have a prayer request you would like to share, either privately with the church staff or with the SDFC community, please contact the church office at or (619) 849-3100.
If you would rather not receive these emails, simply reply
“Thanks, but no thanks” and they will stop coming your way.
