Message from Pastor Russ
Regathering & Healthy Spiritual Habits

One of my goals that I shared on Sunday was that we maintain the momentum of our regathering during these months while Pastor Dee is on sabbatical. We each have had our own levels of comfort and caution during the pandemic, and we have decided when and how we would regather with our church family. It has been wonderful to see old friends and new ones returning to worship.

My favorite quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson is this: "Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny." That quote blends with Hebrews 10:24-25 at the word 'habit': "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

One of the dearest members of our church family, Reuben Welch, constantly reminds us that "we really do need each other." That has never been more true than it is now as the church regathers from this unprecedented time in our history.

So, let us encourage one another as we form healthy spiritual habits. I will see you at church!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Russ

Praying Our Way to Pentecost
From May 1, 2022, through Pentecost, Nazarenes across the USA/Canada region will join together in reading a Prayer Journal and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in response. We are praying for a great outpouring of God’s Spirit leading up to and including Pentecost Sunday (June 5, 2022).

Below are ways for you to use the Praying Our Way to Pentecost Prayer Journal on your phone or tablet.
  1. Search for “Half-Million Mobilization” on Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Set notifications in the app so you get a daily notification for each devotional.
  3. Create a login so you can save notes from your time in prayer.
You can also go to www.halfmillionmobilization.org for a web-based version of the prayer journal.

Thank you for your commitment to seek God’s will for the Church of the Nazarene in USA/Canada.

What will the Spirit say to you during these 36 days? We want to know!

To that end, the USA/Canada Regional Office has provided a prayer response survey to capture what you hear the Spirit saying. You can find the link at www.usacanadaregion.org/pray

In Our Prayers...
Update in Support of Ukrainian Refugees

Opportunities are still available to participate in relief efforts for the refugees who are coming across our southern border here in San Diego. We are partnering with the Nazarene district and they are partnering with other church organizations to handle thousands who will be granted emergency parole status and relocated from the border to various towns across the country. Our contact point is Spring Valley Church of the Nazarene. They are providing temporary housing and needed goods and services while the processing of paperwork is completed.

Our church has already contributed thousands of dollars in blankets, toiletries, towels, pillows and transportation funds for this effort. We will continue to participate as the weeks unfold. You can contribute funds through our church by giving online via our PushPay giving portal. You can also volunteer to help at Spring Valley, with many different tasks. Signing up to volunteer is simple. Just click this link to fill out the brief online form. We are grateful for your support and participation in providing relief for this urgent situation.
