Worship Services Update
Dear Church Family,

In December many of us took a survey regarding our Sunday morning services. Those who participated were a wonderful representation of our congregation. The staff and church board  have spent hours in multiple meetings reviewing the feedback and charting a course. What was clear from the survey results was a strong desire to express our unity as one body in Christ, while still giving expression to our unique preferences in worship music and liturgy.

Your board and staff have mapped out the following path forward: We will continue to gather at 10:30am in Brown Chapel for our worship service each Sunday. Victor and Austin will collaborate on the liturgy, with Austin taking the lead in the congregational singing and Victor taking the lead in choir, ensemble and instrumental specials.

In addition, on March 6, we will begin the new tradition of a First Sundays Morningtide service. On the first Sunday of each month, we will offer a time of music, hymns, choir, scripture reading and devotional in the Ellipse Chapel at 9:00am. Morningtide is a spiritual practice for everyone; we hope you will be a part of it.

We love you and are grateful to be on the journey with you.

Ash Wednesday Service
Wednesday, March 2

6:30-7:45pm in the Ellipse Chapel

Ash Wednesday is a sacred tradition for communities of faith, where we gather to recognize and consider both our own limitations as mortal beings, as well as the abundant and mysterious grace of God.
We invite you to join us for this inaugural event of the Lenten season, a reflective service that will include music, a homily, and the administration of ashes.
In Our Prayers...
  • Ukraine: The ongoing situation in Ukraine is incredibly frightening. The Nazarene church leadership in the region is grateful for prayers from the global church. We also ask that as you pray, you consider taking action in the following ways:
    • We take seriously Christ's call to be peacemakers in the world and, where possible, encourage people to write to their elected officials to call for peace and the preservation of life.
    • You can also financially assist relief efforts by giving to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Eurasia North Field Crisis Fund by clicking here.
If you have a prayer request you would like to share, either privately with the church staff or with the SDFC community, please contact the church office at or (619) 849-3100.
If you would rather not receive these emails, simply reply
“Thanks, but no thanks” and they will stop coming your way.
