Ash Wednesday Service
Wednesday, March 2

6:30-7:45pm in the Ellipse Chapel

Ash Wednesday is a sacred tradition for communities of faith, where we gather to recognize and consider both our own limitations as mortal beings, as well as the abundant and mysterious grace of God.
We invite you to join us for this inaugural event of the Lenten season, a reflective service that will include music, a homily, and the administration of ashes.
This Lent, we will once again be hosting our annual Season of Prayer Adult U series in-person at SDFC. The class will meet in Bowes Conference Room every Wednesday at 6:30pm for six weeks, beginning March 9th. Each session will be led by a different member of the SDFC community and focus on a specific topic or type of prayer. This year's schedule:
  • March 9: Reflective Prayer with Marti Parker
  • March 16: Praying For A More Just World with Rebecca Laird
  • March 23: Praying With All Of Our Bible with Stephanie Matthews
  • March 30: Daily Examen Prayer with Mark Maddix
  • April 6: Intercessory Prayer with Jo Clemmons
  • April 13: The Lord's Prayer with Michael Lodahl
These sessions are designed for anyone who is interested in broadening their understanding and practice of prayer. We hope to see you there!

In Our Prayers...
  • Brower Family: Please join us in continued prayer for Alisha Brower as she goes through her cancer journey.
  • AJ Pitkin: AJ has asked for prayer as he prepares to manage his son Judah's Little League team and bears the responsibility to teach, love, and care for each child and their families. Some of the boys have unique needs, so prayers for patience and wisdom are greatly appreciated!
  • The Heffernan Family: The Heffernan's youngest daughter, Cece, was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Please keep the Heffernans in your prayers as they embark on this new health journey. If you'd like to support the family in the coming weeks, you can sign-up for their Meal Train by clicking here.
  • The Bird Family: Please join us in sending your condolences and prayers for Larry Bird and his family following the passing of his wife, Jane Bird, on January 22nd.
If you have a prayer request you would like to share, either privately with the church staff or with the SDFC community, please contact the church office at or (619) 849-3100.
If you would rather not receive these emails, simply reply
“Thanks, but no thanks” and they will stop coming your way.
