This Sunday at SDFC
This Sunday, we will continue to gather for a unified worship service in Brown Chapel at 10:30am. At this time we are encouraging the use of masks and face coverings indoors, regardless of vaccination status, in an effort to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 and its variants.

If gathering in-person isn't right for you at this time, we invite you to stay connected via our online options. The sermon from our Sunday morning worship service will be available in podcast format for you to listen any time you like on our church website, www.sdfcnaz.com, shortly following the service.
Worship Update
Beginning September 5th, we will return to two Sunday morning worship services: The Classic service will meet in the Ellipse Chapel and the Contemporary service will meet in Brown. Both of these services will meet at 10:30am, and all Sunday schools will meet at 9:00 am.

We will do this for a trial period of 13 weeks, which will conclude on November 28th. During December, we will have unified services and provide opportunities for feedback regarding our fall services.

Thank you to those who provided feedback to help us shape this plan for our Sunday morning worship services moving forward. We are grateful to be on this journey with you!
Gloria Casas Memorial
Gloria Casas passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was adventurous, fearless, and passionate to pursue challenges that came her way. She traveled the world and made many life-long friends. Gloria’s SDFC church family will greatly miss her spunk and presence among us.

Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers: her sister, Julia and her brother, Poncho along with his wife, Lisa.

In Our Prayers...
  • Renee Christensen: Renee has asked for prayers as she prepares for an unexpected surgery to reattach a tendon in her foot on Wednesday, August 25th.

  • Haiti: A 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Saturday morning, causing widespread destruction in an area still recovering from Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Nearly 1,300 people have died, a number that will likely rise. At the same time, Tropical Depression Grace is dumping rain on the country, bringing fears of landslides or contaminated drinking water. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, local Nazarene churches, and partner organizations are preparing to mobilize as soon as the initial assessment of need is clearer.

Please pray for those facing the devastation left by the earthquake, especially those who have lost loved ones and homes. Pray for those who are experiencing trauma after the major earthquake 11 years ago. Pray for the swift and safe delivery of supplies, including shelters, food, and medicine. Pray for those who are most vulnerable, including senior adults, individuals with disabilities, and people living in poverty. Pray for church leaders and churches responding to the needs around them. To send a prayer or note of encouragement, go to ncm.org/pray.

If you feel encouraged to give, you can provide support through the Haiti Earthquake 2021 Fund. Donations will be used for immediate needs, including shelter, clean water, food, and medical supplies, as well as long-term needs in the months and years ahead.

If you have a prayer request you would like to share, either privately with the church staff or with the SDFC community, please contact the church office at church@sdfcnaz.com or (619) 849-3100.
