"The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature. Yet, these are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message: To care for ourselves we must care for nature." (Source: World Environment Day)
Sustainability Carleton Celebrates World Environment Day: June 5
There are 4 days until World Environment Day! The theme for World Environment Day, 5 June 2020 is biodiversity — a call to action to combat the accelerating species loss and degradation of the natural world. Carleton University is a proud partner of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Canada, WWF Canada is the largest international conservation organization in the country that is actively working towards reversing the decline of wildlife. The World Wildlife Fund offers many educational resources on biodiversity. Check out their resources on how to connect with nature, even while indoors.

Carleton University has a strong commitment to embedding continuous environmental and sustainable improvement into its operations and to finding new and innovative ways to demonstrate sustainability leadership in our research, teaching, learning and operations. Learn about what some of our scholars are saying on the subject of sustainability.
Time for Nature Photo Contest
How have you connected with nature during this time of social distancing?

For the month of June, we will be spotlighting the Carleton community’s nature-based activities to celebrate Environment Day (June 5) and we would like you to participate! Being confined to our homes is a great opportunity to reflect on the role of nature in our lives and the ways in which we can create positive change for the environment.

Sustainability Carleton is looking for your favourite original nature photography in Ottawa or of Carleton’s campus to be posted on our upcoming media. From biking on the canal, planting a garden, to a nature hike, we want to celebrate time #ForNature.

Enter by submitting your photo by June 12th for a chance to win a Ravens hoodie courtesy of SEO, and be featured on our website and social media channels: Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook throughout the month of June to celebrate World Environment Day
