SEPTEMBER 2020 NEWSLETTER
Hey, are you tired yet?
In these unprecedented times we have all been stretched beyond the limits we thought possible. The uncertainty, fear, isolation and turmoil have taken a toll on the hearts of everyone. At times it has felt this season of tension and new normal will never end!
That being said, we at Safe Place have also had the privilege of watching God provide in tangible and intangible ways for the needs of individuals and this ministry. We have been reminded of the important things, of what lasts and what ordinary things can be removed from us in a moment. If you are like us, this has been not only an exhausting time, but a refining one.
I can’t help but compare the emotions of the last months to the experience of those dealing with the impacts of abuse. The continual turmoil is isolating, often disabling and complicated by the fact that those closest to us may also become weary and step back from our overwhelming situation. There are no simple answers and no vaccine on the horizon to provide relief!
In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus refers to Isaiah 61 when He states:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
At SPM we seek to live out the healing expressed in the verses above by walking alongside our brothers and sisters struggling to find hope in the midst of chaos. Will you join us in asking God how you can be a beacon of peace in this crazy tempest we are all experiencing, as well as an anchor for the private battles so many are fighting in solitude?
We may be tired but we have access to the One who promises to revive and sustain us. Hold on and hang in there!
