Trolley Trail Detour

KC Streetcar Constructors (KCSC) is getting ready to bring the streetcar back to the Brookside/South Plaza neighborhood with the construction of the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension. Before full streetcar construction begins in 2022, early work will take place at the northern end of the Harry Wiggins Trolley Trail (corner of 49th Street and Main Street).

Starting in mid-October, the Trolley Trail will be detoured along Brookside Boulevard from 49th Street south to 51st Street. Barricades will be placed to protect trail users during construction.

The early work will include:
  • Construction of a retaining wall for the future UMKC streetcar stop
  • The demolition of the existing trail
  • The construction and relocation of the new trail\
The newly relocated section of trail will be 10 feet wide and constructed of poured concrete. This construction, with the detour, is expected to be complete by February 2022. If you have any questions, please email or call the project hotline at 816.337.1013. You can also visit the KCSC website for more information on the project:
