Stephen Ministers

Stephen MinistersSince January 2013, Berkey has had Stephen Ministers who have been active behind the scenes, confidentially providing one-to-one lay Christian caregiving. Stephen Ministry is a program of care for people facing one of life's transitions or challenges. We would like to expand the number of Stephen Ministers we have, and so will be offering training again, beginning in late August. Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training, and then on-going peer supervision in order to provide quality Christian care to one person for about an hour a week. Watch the newsletter and your mailboxes for more information on what Stephen Ministers do and how to apply. Prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to this ministry. If you have questions, you can contact one of our Stephen Leaders, Shirley Dick or Marilyn Rudy-Froese.

Getting to Know

Mission Commission

Clare Krabill

Clare Krabill

I moved to Goshen 4 years ago after Merrill and I married and blended our six children into one family. I have also lived in Warsaw and Wabash, IN as well as Illinois, New York and Connecticut. Currently, I am the executive director of the Center for Healing & Hope. Previously, I worked as a grant administrator, in women's ministry and as a physical therapist. My greatest joy is my family and I also enjoy anything outdoors, gardening and reading.

Whether you are new or a charter member, we are continually learning to know each other and we want to get to know you more. It can be very simple, your name, what you do for a living and what you are interested in. You can view our newsletter archive for some examples. Interested in being featured? Let us know!

We will no longer be printing and distributing calendars each month.  They are however, available for download.

Bill Hooley has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Please continue to pray for him and Edith as they walk this journey.
Rafael's Barahona's father has for several months been experiencing back pain. Following an MRI, they learned that he has two dislocated discs in his back. In the last week, he has made his way through three different major painkillers, none of which have provided relief. Please pray for pain relief and direction as next steps including back surgery are considered.
Susan's Garboden's father, Blaine Fulton, went through chemo for lymphoma last summer and fall. He was very sick from side effects and almost couldn't complete the chemo. He has been in remission and feeling very well for several months now. He is savoring each day.
Beginning this month, Connie and Dennis Byler will be in the United States on North American Ministry, sharing about God’s work in Spain through Mennonite Mission Network. Pray for safe travels and that God will speak powerfully through them.
Please pray for Marion Mennonite Church, Shipshewana, IN and Pastors Ron Roth and Char Roth as well as Grace Chapel in Saginaw, MI and Pastor James Nelson.
