From Yasir Makki
Thanks to those of you who donated money to help Yasir Makki get to Mennonite World Conference. (Yasir spoke about his work in the Sudan during our July 13 worship service.) "I can't thank you enough; this has been such a wonderful experience," Yasir reports. He was able to participate in a number of workshops led by David Shenk, who is well known in Mennonite circles for his work on Christian/Muslim relations. In fact, he led one of David's workshops on 2 hours' notice when David had a conflict!
From Genie Kehr

2. Approve the 2015-16 budget.
3. Hear a summary of the pastoral-congregational evaluation which was completed in the spring.
4. Hear a summary of our ongoing conversation about space issues.

The summer of grief
This has been an incredibly hard post to write. I teach about social identity and oppression, and I spend a fair amount of time reading, writing and talking about racism. It is something I care deeply about, and it is something that impacts my life and the lives of many people that I love. But I know that in order to be “hearable” I need to foster a somewhat dispassionate tone. I need to distance myself from my passion and my own pain. I need to take care to not put people on the defensive, not to offend. This summer, my capacity to do that has worn so very, very thin. Learn more.

Saint John's Bible exhibit
AMBS will host an exhibit of 20 prints from the Saint John's Bible from September 1 to 18. The prints are from pages of the hand-lettered, hand-illustrated Saint John's Bible, which merges ancient techniques of calligraphy and illumination with a current ecumenical Christian approach to Scripture. AMBS invites all who are in our area or who are traveling nearby to stop in to see the exhibit and ponder anew the message in the Scriptures so exquisitely reproduced. Learn more

Be angry, but do not sin
The sun has not yet gone down on this day, and my soul cries out with a cleansing anger, born of grief! An intense grief that will not give up on hope," Sara Wenger Shenk says at the beginning of her blog post, Be angry, but do not sin
. Join in her lament and prayer for patience and humility.

There will be ice cream and pretzels and more singing inside following the worship service. Rain location: Farmstead Inn pavilion, Shipshewana (just north of Menno-Hof) Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 5 p.m. Bring lawn chairs for seating.
We have two needs we would like to share with your congregation; the cargo van that was used for donation pickups is “officially” out of commission and our building needs the A/C replaced. We were given a quote of $5,371.00 for the A/C and we expect the cargo van to cost around $10,000.00. However, we are open to a vehicle donation as long as it is a reliable 2005 or newer cargo van. Many thanks for all that you do to help The Window fulfill its mission to serve those in need within the Goshen Community!
