Intergenerational Sunday School
June 15 - Art:
Attention, rock collectors! For our June 15 "Discovering God's World through Art" Sunday School class, at the beginning of the hour, we would love to have one or two or maybe more of you tell about your rock collections, or even about one special rock and where you found it, etc. An example might be an arrowhead found in your garden, rocks found on your travels, a collection of geodes or Petoskey stones, or round stones or pink stones, etc. Scientific names not needed! Your sharing would just be for a few minutes. Your collection would be displayed for inspection during our class session, when we will offer rock activities. To volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
June 22 - Play:
On June 22 the Discovering God Through Play class will be playing bocce ball. If you have a set that you are willing to share with the group during that hour can you please let Dan Nafziger know and either bring them that day or let Dan know when is the best time to pick them up. You can email him at email@example.com.
Honoring Lois Mast
We will be honoring Lois Mast's service to Berkey Avenue during worship on Sunday, June 29. If you have a memory about Lois you are willing to share, please submit it online
or to Deb Williams, Lana Smucker, or Denise Risser. All ages are welcome to contribute! If you have a picture you would like to share, give it to Denise or send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
Check out the new Stephen Ministry brochures in your mailbox! Since January 2013, Berkey has had Stephen Ministers who have been active behind the scenes, confidentially providing one-to-one lay Christian caregiving. Stephen Ministry is a program of care for people facing one of life's transitions or challenges. We would like to expand the number of Stephen Ministers we have, and so will be offering training again, beginning in late August. Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training, and then on-going peer supervision in order to provide quality Christian care to one person for about an hour a week. Watch the newsletter and your mailboxes for more information on what Stephen Ministers do and how to apply. Prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to this ministry. If you have questions, you can contact one of our Stephen Leaders, Shirley Dick or Marilyn Rudy-Froese.
