Stephen Ministers

Stephen MinistersCheck out the new Stephen Ministry brochures in your mailbox! Since January 2013, Berkey has had Stephen Ministers who have been active behind the scenes, confidentially providing one-to-one lay Christian caregiving. Stephen Ministry is a program of care for people facing one of life's transitions or challenges. We would like to expand the number of Stephen Ministers we have, and so will be offering training again, beginning in late August. Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training, and then on-going peer supervision in order to provide quality Christian care to one person for about an hour a week. Watch the newsletter and your mailboxes for more information on what Stephen Ministers do and how to apply. Prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to this ministry. If you have questions, you can contact one of our Stephen Leaders, Shirley Dick or Marilyn Rudy-Froese.

Getting to Know

Worship Commission

Jenny (Miller) Hooley

Jenny Hooley

I was born in 1963 at Goshen Hospital. My parents owned a dairy farm just across the state line in Michigan. It was a lot of fun growing up on a farm. I am the youngest of six children.
Church was a central part of our family life. I also memorized bible verses and went to Bible Memory Camp at Amigo every year as a camper and later as a counselor. As a teenager I also joined Monday Night Bible Study which was organized by area youth and young adults. I graduated from Bethany Christian High School and Goshen College where I appreciated the programs and professors who challenged me in my Christian faith. I teach piano lessons from my home. I enjoy being involved with music at church and really had fun doing a few musicals with the kids at church several years ago. I also enjoy gardening, bicycling, hiking, & cooking. I am married to John Hooley and we have two children, Lauren and Austin.

Whether you are new or a charter member, we are continually learning to know each other and we want to get to know you more. It can be very simple, your name, what you do for a living and what you are interested in. You can view our newsletter archive for some examples. Interested in being featured? Let us know!

We will no longer be printing and distributing calendars each month.  They are however, available for download.
