Berkey Announcements

Your Generosity

We wish to thank the congregation for last week's offering.  Because of your amazing generosity, the church was able to make its expenses for the general fund and are nearly at 50% of our renovation fund needs. God is good. Read the Fund Raising Team's thank you letter.

Penny Power

PennyThe Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale is right around the corner and our Penny Power drive continues this Sunday. Pennies are great, but remember you are not limited to pennies! Spare change of quarters and silver dollars adds up much more quickly than pennies. Dollar bills are acceptable, too! Last year the sale had its best year ever with Penny Power raising $50,180 to be used to provide clean, safe and accessible water to people around the world through Mennonite Central Committee and its partners.

Take A Seat

You might not notice right away, but we've added more chairs to the sanctuary to accommodate our higher attendance. When you can, we encourage you to sit in the center of your row so people who come afterward can fill in the ends. Thank you!

Note from Ruth Roth

Berkey Friends: John and I have been held up in a special way by all your love and support these last weeks while I've been caring for my mother, Mattie Miller, in the last days of her life. Your hugs, cards, flowers, food, prayers and words of condolence and encouragement have been so heartwarming. We were particularly touched to have some of you join us for the memorial in Ohio. Mom loved to come to Berkey in the last 20 years when she would visit us. We're blessed to be part of such a wonderful, caring church family.
~Ruth and John Roth

Getting to Know

Sara Alvarez

Sara Alvarez

My name is Sara Alvarez, daughter of church members Jim Alvarez and Diane Beam. I've been coming to Berkey Avenue since our family moved to the area when I entered high school. After graduating from Goshen College last May, I volunteered at a public radio station in Pittsburgh as a participant in the Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience (PULSE). I appreciate the prayers and encouragement I got from some of you throughout the year and am happy to be back in Goshen, working for Mennonite Mission Network as a News Editor.

Whether you are new or a charter member, we are continually learning to know each other and we want to get to know you more. It can be very simple, your name, what you do for a living and what you are interested in. You can view our newsletter archive for some examples. Interested in being featured? Let us know!

Please note we will no longer be printing and distributing monthly calendars.  They are however, available for download.
