In the coming year, four students from Berkey will be attending Bethany Christian Schools. The estimated tuition cost for these students will be $41,763. Since we already have $37,594.72 in the Bethany fund, we only need $4,169 by April 30. If you'd like to contribute, write your check to Berkey Avenue Mennonite and mark it for "Bethany Fund."
You're probably wondering where our new chairs are for the sanctuary. A few months ago, Sauder Church Furniture, the manufacturer, learned their textile supplier went bankrupt. This put our chair order on hold. Sauder has just partnered with a new textile supplier who can replicate the fabric on our chairs. However, we will have to buy a full roll of fabric (50 yards). Our current order of 52 chairs will only use 37 yards of that roll. Sauder says they will ship us the extra 13 yards of fabric so we can store it here at the church for a future order.
Rather than storing 13 yards of fabric for several years, the Coordinating Council thinks it would be better to gather enough money to use up the entire 50-yard roll. Would you like to contribute to this effort? The extra 13 yards of fabric are enough to make 18 chairs. If we can raise an extra $2,550, then we can order 71 new chairs. With the 108 new chairs we already have, our total would then be 179 new chairs in the sanctuary.
A side benefit of this plan is that all of our adult classrooms can then use brown chairs instead of metal folding chairs, which in turn leaves more metal chairs for fellowship meals. The Council is soliciting contributions until Easter Sunday, April 5. If you want to help buy these 18 extra chairs, mark your gift for the "Chair Fund."
Thank you so much for the wonderful responses. We now have enough lodging spots for all our guests. If you really still want to host, some groups of 4 can be broken into groups of 2. Brenda Grimes will be in touch with all the host homes with more details as she gets them. Please feel free to contact Brenda
with any questions. Tickets can be purchased on the Goshen College website
for the Sunday 3:00 p.m. concert.
If you want a garden plot this year let Lowell Nafziger
know. Each plot is 12’ x 24’, there is a fence around it, and there is water piped out to the garden. A load of manure was put on last fall. Thanks to Sherm Kauffman who is having his brother do soil tests for us to get the best results. You are not limited to one plot. A $5.00 donation per plot is suggested for manure and preparation of the garden. Plots should be ready the first part of May.

At the November 16 congregational meeting, a motion was approved to hire a lead treasurer from outside Berkey for the current fiscal year. However, the Stewardship and Finance Commission was also asked to find out whether a qualified person inside the congregation is willing to do this work on a volunteer basis. The commission is now fulfilling this request by advertising for this role. See the candidate's qualification

Report from our Indiana-Michigan Conference
Beth and Lee Roy Berry and Dan Schrock recently attended a gathering for delegates to the conference. We learned that because some churches have left conference and some others may leave soon, the conference is resizing itself accordingly. In the coming year, the conference budget will be lowered by about $100,000. Join us in praying for the employees who will lose their jobs. Learn more
