Thank you again for your generous support of the project.

Note from MarilynMarilyn Rudy-Froese will be on sabbatical September 19 - January 2. She writes, "Thank you for the opportunity to take a sabbatical leave. It feels like a gift from you, and I receive it as such. Many of you have asked about my sabbatical plans. You can see them here. I leave knowing that congregational life is in good hands and trusting God's Spirit to renew and sustain us."

Note from the Hostetters

thanksJoy and Rick Hostetter want to say a deep felt thanks to all those who prayed, shared, mailed, and demonstrated their love and support of us during this time of celebrating Grace Hostetter's passing. There will continue to be a big hole in our world without her but we truly do celebrate the person she was and the gifts that she has shared during her blessed 97 years with us and many others.

Model School Note

thanksA thank you note from the Model school staff is on the bulletin board by the mailboxes for you to read. Their note thanks us for the meal that was served to teachers and staff on the first day of school.

Meals for Students

College MealsOver the years Berkey has been a wonderful, welcoming church home for many college/young adult students. One of the highlights for the students is having a meal each Sunday after church. This allows them to get to know our church family in a more informal setting and learn to know a wider range of people. You don’t need to make anything fancy – just a simple meal of food you enjoy making. You can host in your home or at the church, using the church kitchen. You may sign up individually, with someone else or as a small group. Follow this link; username: students, password: bamf. For more information, contact Ruth Roth. Thank you so much for your meals and friendship to our students!

Throwback Thursday

tbtHead on over to our Facebook page for a photographic collection of our early history -- complete with difficult to recognize building features, incredible hairstyles and clothing, and who knows what else we will dig up! Play along and see if you can spot anybody you know, and don't forget to like our page if you haven't already!

Do you have an announcement for the Newsletter? Submit your announcement to the office by noon on Thursday. Announcements received after the deadline will be printed the following week.

MennoTalks at Orlando 2017:  Not quite TED, and not exactly Pecha Kucha, MennoTalks will explore a different topic each day, featuring seven speakers from diverse perspectives. We’ll hear about celebrating women (the 100-year anniversary of Mennonite Women USA); race, religion and justice; and global and local peacemaking. The 20x20 presentation format — 20 slides for 20 seconds each — facilitates presentations that are dynamic, fast-paced and concise. If you would like to be considered for MennoTalks, complete the form on this webpage and submit a 2–3 minute video (YouTube preferred) of your presentation by October 1, 2016. Submissions without video will not be considered.

mccMennonite Central Committee

Keith Butler spent his summer showing kids in his Detroit neighborhood that they can have fun while learning important life skills. Butler was part of MCC's Summer Service program, where he also learned that you can sometimes have the most impact by building up other leaders. PrayerPlease contact the office by noon on Thursday with prayer requests.

Recognizing September 21 as the International Day of Peace, pray that adults may bless children by interpreting Christ’s love through promoting peaceful environments especially as children encounter violence, exploitation, discrimination and other injustices. Pray that people of the world will recognize children as a blessing entrusted to them.

Mennonite Church USA congregations are invited to pray for God’s wisdom as we challenge the violence that continues to be our culture’s all-too-frequent response to conflict.
