Bolivian Learning Tour

BoliviaThe Mission Commission is organizing a 10 day MCC learning tour to Bolivia. The possible dates for the tour are either the end of April/beginning of May or the last part of June. This tour will be able to accommodate 8 to 12 people and may include people from Waterford Mennonite Church. Becca Smucker provides the following tour description:

The tour will include getting to know parts of Eastern and Western Bolivia. This would mean starting in Santa Cruz, where we have various partners and where we are located at the MCC office, and then ending in Cochabamba, a city in Western Bolivia where we have various service workers and partners as well. This would give a broader look into MCC´s work throughout Bolivia as well as allow you to experience cultural differences within the country.

If you are interested in participating in the tour planning, or in going on the tour please contact James Yoder.

Peace Club

peace clubPeace Club meets this Sunday, November 13, in Jubilee Hall at the church, 4:00-6:00 p.m. We hope to learn more about refugees and immigrants. Our learning will include balloons, a walk outside, world maps, and designing & filling our own suitcases. Were the pilgrims we hear about at Thanksgiving, immigrants? Hmmm... See you Sunday!

Berkey Work Project

The WindowThis Wednesday, November 16, at 6:30 p.m. we invite you to gather for a service project at The Window, located at 223 S Main St, Goshen. For more information contact Ron Good, 537-1978.

Congregational Meal and Meeting

Fellowship HallOur next congregational meal and meeting will happen on Sunday, November 20. The meeting's agenda includes:

1.  Approve minutes of the August meeting.
2.  Receive a financial update from the Stewardship and Finance Commission.
3.  Discuss (and perhaps approve) the child abuse policy and the guidelines for dealing with alleged sexual harassment.
4.  Update from the SLT on conversations about growth.
5.  SLT's clarification on the term limits proposal passed at the August congregational meeting:

Beginning September 1, 2017, all new terms for SLT and commission members will last for 2 years, whether the person is starting a term in that position for the first, second, or third time.  A person may serve up to three 2-year terms (i.e., 6 years) before ending their service in that role.
Persons who accepted a 3-year term beginning either on 9-1-2015 or on 9-1-2016 may continue that 3-year term until it expires, even if it means they will serve 7, 8, or 9 continuous years in that role.
If persons complete a term of service on 8-31-2017 and have served 5 years in that role, they may be eligible to begin a 1-year term on 9-1-2017 if the Leadership Discernment Team needs a 1-year term to balance term lengths within a commission.
If persons complete a term of service on 8-31-2017 and have served 6 years in that role, they will have reached their limit for serving in that role.

Prayer
Please contact the office by noon on Thursday with prayer requests.

From IN-MI Mennonite Conference:
Pray for Howard-Miami Mennonite, Kokomo, IN (Ben &, Sarah Schlegel, pastors).
Pray for Morning Star, Muncie, IN (Gladys Maina and Simon Mungai, pastors). They thank God for providing freezers so that this year they do not have to struggle to find storage for the turkeys and hams for their Thanksgiving Baskets. They thank God and the wonderful churches who continue to partner with their mission center to provide food, clothes and hope for the needy. Please pray for their church as they look to acquire another building because the current one is filled to capacity on the days they serve meals. They also lack a nursery and Sunday school classrooms to minister to families.

From Mennonite Education Agency:
Pray for Annette LeZotte of the Bethel College (Kansas) Kauffman Museum as she speaks this afternoon about another museum, the Museum of Modern Art’s work to develop programs for those with Alzheimer’s disease.

From Mennonite Mission Network:
Colombia is negotiating a complicated peace process, both on the official level and among people who have a long history of division and violence. Mennonite Mission Network requests prayer for wisdom and courage for Colombia Mennonite Church members as they model the way of peace.
