MYF Service Trip Volunteers

Youth MinistryWe are looking for two adults (one male and one female) to accompany/lead the youth on their service trip this summer to DOOR Chicago. The trip will be July 3-8. While DOOR provides leaders for their portion of the program, we need adults who will be responsible for our group. All of your expenses will be covered. If you are interested, or have questions about this, please speak with Marilyn.

Meals for College Students

mealsOver the years, Berkey has been a wonderful, welcoming church home for many college/young adult students. One of the highlights for the students is having a meal each Sunday after church. This allows them to get to know our church family in a more informal setting and learn to know a wider range of people. You don’t need to make anything fancy – just a simple meal of food you enjoy making. You can host in your home or at the church, using the church kitchen. You may sign up individually, with someone else or as a small group. Thank you so much for your meals and friendship to our students! A new schedule is ready. To sign up visit the Take Them a Meal site, (username: students; password: bamf).

Stephen Ministry Training

stephen ministriesThis coming week the Stephen Ministry training class will be considering the subject of "Assertiveness:  Relating Gently and Firmly". In this presentation they will be finding out the difference between passive, assertive, and aggressive behavior and gaining skills that will help both in relating with others and in affirming their own worth. We thank God for the continuing dedication of our Stephen Minister trainees and ask your continued prayers for them and for God's blessings upon their ministries.

PrayerPlease contact the office by noon on Thursday with prayer requests.

Pray for Howard-Miami Mennonite, Kokomo, IN (Ben & Sarah Schlegel, pastors). Praise God for giving them opportunities to be generous this Christmas season and for the way the congregation has responded. People have given of their time and money to support various ministries in their community and giving support to refugees  in the Middle East and Europe. As God has blessed them, they have been given opportunities to bless others, and are thankful! Pray as they have a number of people with ongoing health troubles and who are making transitions in living situations, either due to a death in the family or declining health. Even in this, they are thankful for people who are visiting and taking meals to those in transitions. God continues to be faithful!

Pray for Mennonite Mission Network personnel and their colleagues in Nepal as they share the good news of God’s providence through the creation of small businesses, including a coffee shop. Praise God for the success of this hospitality ministry that is prospering and giving hope to many visitors.
