Stephen Ministry Training has Begun
Doug Baker is participating in the Stephen Ministry training at Waterford Mennonite Church. He, along with participants from College Mennonite and Waterford Mennonite, has begun the task of studying, discussing, experiencing, and trying out the skills involved in sharing God's love and compassion with those experiencing challenges and transitions in life. Let us thank God for these ministers and ask God's continued help and blessing during this time of training.
Menno's Best coffee
It's the last Sunday of the month, so we'll be placing our monthly order of Menno's Best coffee this coming week. Get your coffee fix and benefit Berkey's MYF! Remember that for each bag sold, the MYF receives $5 to help fund our trip to the convention in Kansas City next summer. ($1 per bag is also split between MMN and MCC). Menno's Best is one of your coffee choices on Sunday morning, so sample it if you haven't already. Fill out the order form next to the coffee or on the bulletin board by the mailboxes. Cost is $12 per bag, available in whole bean or ground. We will place orders at the end of each month until convention. You can also order individually online, but will need to pay shipping. For more information (including online ordering) visit
. If you have questions, see Denise Risser
Seating During Worship
When you seat yourself for worship, we encourage you to choose seats in the middle of the row, so those who come after you can find seats closer to the aisles. The front row of the center section also has open seats. The Worship Commission is considering different seating arrangements that might include more chairs, but meanwhile every chair is important.

Meals for College Students
Over the years Berkey has been a wonderful, welcoming church home for many college/young adult students. One of the highlights for the students is having a meal each Sunday after church. This allows them to get to know our church family in a more informal setting and learn to know a wider range of people. If you can help in hosting a meal, please go to the website
(usarname: students password: bamf) or contact Ruth Roth
or (574) 533-8955). You don’t need to make anything fancy – just a simple meal of food you enjoy making. You can host in your home or at the church, using the church kitchen. You may sign up individually, with someone else or as a small group. Thank you so much for your meals and friendship to our students!
On Wednesday, January 28 the MYF will be preparing care packages for Berkey Avenue College Students. Please bring individually wrapped treats to share with our students. Homemade baked items are fine, too. Please bring them to church on Sunday or have all items to the church by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday 28. Thank you for your support!

More Sanctuary Chairs
The Coordinating Council is offering the congregation an opportunity to buy more new chairs for the sanctuary and to replace at least some of the older brown chairs. These new chairs will be identical to the 107 chairs that are currently in the front of the sanctuary. Our chair fund already has about $6,260, enough to buy 44 new chairs. The Council is accepting further donations into the chair fund until the last Sunday of January. Learn more

Why I came back to teach at GC
Goshen College alumni often have the opportunity to use their teaching talents at a variety of higher education institutions. Here are
the stories of four of the 38 current teaching faculty who chose to return to their alma mater to serve and offer their knowledge, wisdom and gifts to a new generation of students.
Film Production Major
Next fall, Goshen College will offer a new film production major for students interested in studying film. Previously, students interested in film could study general communications with an emphasis on film. The new major allows students to “get credit for what they’ve already been taking and show[s] that the courses they’re taking are contributing to their actual major,” said Seth Conley, associate professor of communication. Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary
What does Anabaptism have to offer today?
Elizabeth Soto Albrecht points to the central strengths of her adopted faith in her post on The Circle. She draws from her study of the roots of Anabaptism in the 16th century to name what Anabaptism offers faithful disciples today. We're looking forward to hearing more of her insights during next week during Pastors Week. Learn more.
