Pastoral Intern at Berkey

Pastoral Intern at BerkeyBen Woodward Breckbill begins as a pastoral intern at Berkey. He is a student at AMBS and has been a part of our congregation during the last year. He will be involved in various aspects of ministry this fall and during the winter and spring, learning what it means to be a ministering person. We will have a blessing for him this Sunday, September 13. Please welcome him into this role. May God's Spirit bless and sustain him.

Meals for College Students

College MealsOver the years, Berkey has been a wonderful, welcoming church home for many college/young adult students. One of the highlights for the students is having a meal each Sunday after church. This allows them to get to know our church family in a more informal setting and learn to know a wider range of people. You don’t need to make anything fancy – just a simple meal of food you enjoy making. You can host in your home or at the church, using the church kitchen. You may sign up individually, with someone else or as a small group. Thank you so much for your meals and friendship to our students!  You can sign up for the meals at takethemameal.com Username: students  Password: bamf.

Thank You

Thank YouThank you for all the support you gave me (Ginny Martin) at the time of my mother's death. The plant, white rose, cards, emails and other kindnesses were all special and deeply appreciated. The worship service and remembering of mom (Miriam) was both tearful and wonderful. She planned her service. Her grandchildren, age 30-50, led the various aspects of worship and shared stories.
Blessings, Ginny Martin.

Prayer
Please contact the office by 9:00 a.m. Thursday with prayer requests.

Keep Wilma in your prayers as she recovers from knee replacement surgery this past Thursday. The surgery went well. She expects to be in hospital 3-4 days.
Amos Hostetler will have his second surgery on Wednesday, Sept. 16 for his heart arithmia. 50% of people who have this need a second surgery.  He's in that 50%.  Last time, the surgery lasted between 8 & 9
hours.  The doctor thinks this one may take longer. It makes for a long day.  Pray especially for steady hands for the doctor.
As many of you know, John's sister, Jenny Wengerd, had a massive cerebral hemorrhage a week ago. With much sadness the family made the decision to take her off life support on Wednesday. If Jenny lasts through the night today (Friday) we will bring her from St. Joseph Medical Center to our home for Jenny's last hrs and days. Hospice will assist us in caring for Jenny. We ask for your prayers as we care for Jenny and continue to give support to her husband, Doug, and their two children, Benjamin and Isaiah (ages 13 and 10). More information about Jenny is at caringbridge.com . We're so grateful for all your prayers and support through this very difficult time for our family. (John and Ruth Roth)
Pray for Mennonite Mission Network’s Mennonite Voluntary Service households as they settle in to community life in Alamosa, Colorado; Elkhart, Indiana; Kansas City, Kansas; Madison, Wisconsin; Manhattan and Rochester, New York; San Antonio; San Francisco; Seattle; Tucson, Arizona; and Washington, D.C.
Pray for Family Worship Center in Goshen, (pastor: James Hochstetler).
Pray also for Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen (pastors: Neil Amstutz, Lyle Miller, Cindy Voth, Velma Swartz). We welcome prayers for our congregation as we focus this fall on “Fanning the Flames” as we discern and embrace the diversity of gifts that God has given to us to further God’s kingdom. Prayers are welcome as we look inward in reflection and then outward with joy for ways we serve each other, our community and the broader world with our gifts from God.
