Advent Season

The Nativity of ChristO, the Mystery of God's Dwelling is the theme for Advent through Epiphany worship this year. Our worship services will explore this theme of mystery and God's dwelling with us and in us. We invite you to ponder the meaning of the Christ event for you during this season. As part of our dwelling with God and God with us, we also want to dwell together in fellowship and community this season. We invite you to come at 9:00 a.m. and enjoy coffee/tea and fellowship with your sisters and brothers. At 9:25 a.m., we invite you to enter the sanctuary and dwell in the image of The Nativity of Christ, an icon created by Michele L. Hofer for this worship series, that will be projected onto the screen in the sanctuary. We hope the icon and the prelude will help you to enter the mystery and awe of Christ's coming into our world.

Jubilee Hall Celebration

Jubliee HallWe're celebrating the end of our Jubilee Renovation Project! Last Sunday's offering put us over the top to fully fund our expenses, so it's time to celebrate. On December 8 during the fellowship break between worship and Christian education, we invite you to bring finger food snacks to mark the successful completion of our Jubilee renovations. Gluten-free and dairy-free snacks will be provided, along with drinks.

Animate: Faith Sunday School Class

Animate: FaithWould you like to ponder, reflect on, and discuss topics of faith such as God, Religion, Jesus, Salvation, the cross, the Bible and the Church? Come to Animate:Faith and hear some leading voices of the Christian faith--Brian McLaren, Shane Hipps, Nadia Bolz-Weber and others--talk about these central aspects of Christianity. Marilyn Rudy-Froese will facilitate this class. Each week we will watch a DVD portion with one of these leading voices, spend time in personal reflection and journaling (the journal will be provided: a donation of $15 is suggested), and engage in conversation. Learn more and hear excerpts.

New to the Library

LibraryThis week we have two new selections for the library. Radical Jesus, edited by Paul Buhle is arguably the first modern effort to convey through comic art the meaning of Jesus and his social message, not just in his own time, but also in the Radical Reformation, recent centuries, and in our own time.  Heart of the Country by Rene Gutteridge and John Ward explores whether two prodigals can return to families they abandoned, and if those families find the grace to forgive and forget? Sometimes to go forward, you have to go back. Learn more.

It can be very simple, your name, what you do for a living and what you are interested in. You can view our newsletter archive for some examples. Interested in being featured? Let us know!

Did You Know? Our current Peace Pole, is an "upgrade" of the wooden version that was found outside the church offices and had eventually succumbed to the elements. In August 2009, a new aluminum pole was placed more visible to the road and features the text "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in several languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, Swahili and Laotian, which are languages spoken by Berkey attendees.

PrayerPlease contact the office by 9:00 a.m. Thursday with prayer requests.

Barbara and Tad Wulliman of Mennonite Mission Network, who live in Manila, request prayer for the people of the Philippines. Many were still living in tents after an earthquake devastated their homes in October, when super-typhoon Haiyan pounded the islands. Pray that Christians will find tangible ways to share Jesus’ love.
