Honoring Lois Mast

Lois MastWe will be honoring Lois Mast's service to Berkey Avenue during worship this Sunday, June 29. There is still time for you to submit a memory about Lois. All ages are welcome to contribute! If you have a picture you would like to share, give it to Denise or send it to risserd@yahoo.com.

Support for Model School

Model StudentsVolunteers are needed to prepare and/or serve a noon meal at the church for Model School staff on August 5 as they prepare for the start of the new school year.  Faith Lutheran church has agreed to join us and coordinate support activities with us for the coming year.  They will be serving a meal on August 6.  Please let Lowell Nafziger know if you can help with the August 5 meal.

Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers
Stephen Ministers are people of faith who are compassionate and trustworthy. Stephen Minister Training provides skills for one-to-one lay Christian caregiving. If you are feeling called to explore whether Stephen Ministry is for you, the application process will help you further understand what it means to be a Stephen Minister, the commitment involved, and help you discern if your gifts can best be used in this ministry at BAMF. Read the job description. Application forms are available here or on the literature rack by the mailboxes. AMBS Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary

Seed to Feed Program

We’re excited to be part of the Seed to Feed program this year, growing melons in a campus garden to help food pantries offer fresh produce to people in the community. A local TV station interviewed Ryan Harker, Master of Divinity student and coordinator of the AMBS garden; watch for him at 1:20. View the video.

Rooted and Grounded Conference

AMBS is pleased to  host Rooted and Grounded: A Conference on Land and Christian Discipleship on September 18-20. More than 50 presentations and workshops are planned, along with worship, immersion experiences and time to work in the AMBS gardens. Learn more.

Maple City Health Care Center 25th Anniversary

Maple City Health Care Center invites the public to attend our 25th anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Activities include facility tours (a walk through history), children’s activities, refreshments, and a program of storytelling. The location for activities between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. is Maple City Health Care Center at 213 Middlebury Street. The location for activities between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. is the Boys and Girls Club at 306 Crescent Street. For information, call Kellie O’Connell at 574-534-3300 ext. 152.

Financial Literacy Classes

Woodforest National Bank will be hosting financial literacy classes July 1, 15 & 29 at 10:00 a.m.  These classes are free and everyone is welcome. Registration deadline for the July 1 class is June 27. View the flier.

MCC Reaching out to Iraqis Displaced by Armed Conflict

As armed conflict forces Iraqis from their homes, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is providing vital items for daily life and is planning with partner organizations for an ongoing response.  MCC also is calling on U.S. lawmakers to oppose military intervention in Iraq and instead to send humanitarian aid for the U.N.-estimated 1.9 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country. First Friday at the Window

The Window will not be participating in July's First Friday due to the holiday.  Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July, and we hope to see you August 1st!

Senior Tuesday Luncheon

You are invited to the next Senior Tuesday Luncheon at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church on Tuesday, July 15, at noon in the Fellowship Hall. Invite your friends and neighbors to join us! The cost is $5.00 per person, paid at the door. Our menu will feature meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh green beans, and pineapple upside down cake for dessert.  Our program is entitled "Journey in Missions - Verda Weaver’s experiences in third world missions." Peaceful Living Conference

A Peaceful Living Conference will take place on Saturday, September 27, in Souderton, PA. The theme is "Co-Creating Caring Relationships to Navigate Life's Journey." This is a conference for families, caregivers, congregational leadership, and healthcare professionals.  The conference will feature Erik W. Carter, PhD, and Bill Gaventa, MDiv, as keynote speakers. Congregational Disabilities Awareness Golf Benefit

ADNet and MDC Goldenrod are collaborating on this Congregational Disabilities Awareness Golf Benefit to be held July 26, 2014 at Timber Ridge Golf Club in Millersburg, IN. We are modifying the usual golf scramble format in that we are planning for a maximum of 30 teams with 3 playing golfers and a fourth non-playing captain who has a disability (could be developmental, emotional, mental or physical) to primarily be the cheerleader. Griefshare Support Group

Griefshare will begin to meet weekly this summer at Silverwood Mennonite Church. Meetings will be every Wednesday for eleven weeks, from June 18 through August 27 from 6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. There is additional information posted on the bulletin board. Please call (574) 533-1922 with questions.

MCC Relief Sale Fund Raising Dinner

Join us for an MCC Relief Sale fund raising dinner as a way to help defray costs incurred to put on the Relief Sale. You will also hear about MCC's work in Colombia. The event will take place on August 14 at the Essenhaus in Middlebury. Additional details are forthcoming.

I'm Ben Buckwalter, and I grew up In Newport News, Virginia.  I'm married to Amy and we have a daughter, Lena, and son, Mike, both are just starting out as family practice doctors close to Indianapolis.  Lena has one daughter, our first granddaughter.  I am self employed as an engineering consultant for mostly electronic manufacturing, companies. One of my main clients has been Crown Audio, later bought by Harman, Inc. Haman ships products that include technology that I invented and patented. I also design electronic products, write software for PC desktop, Android and Apple products for many other clients around the country.  I have a variety of interests including  music, synthesizers, audio, chess, science, website design and computers.

Whether you are new or a charter member, we are continually learning to know each other and we want to get to know you more. It can be very simple, your name, what you do for a living and what you are interested in. You can view our newsletter archive for some examples. Interested in being featured? Let us know!

Anita and David Breckbill recently completed five months of volunteering at Union Biblical Seminary in India through Mennonite Mission Network. One of their jobs in the library was to update the card catalog of 80,000 items. Pray for the Breckbills as they continue relationships with their Indian friends from their home in Nebraska.
