While the timing of my leaving is yet to be determined, it appears I will be working through May and possibly into the summer. Some have asked whether John and I will continue to worship here at Berkey and my response is, "Absolutely!" I love this congregation and want to continue to be a part of the life of this church. Thank you again. My heart is full of gratitude.
Teacher Appreciation Thank You
Thank you so much for your support in celebrating our Berkey teachers last Sunday, including a big thanks to Bob Pflederer for helping with set up, to Merrill Krabill for the great banner and to all the dessert makers for your delicious treats. If there are teachers who couldn't come to church last week, please be sure to take a potted Primrose home with you! ~ Christian Ed. Commission (Allan, Deb, Evie, Lois and Ruth)
The Mission Commission has planned an auction on Friday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m., to provide funds for the Goshen Ministerial Association Emergency Fund and other charities that provide support for low income families and homeless persons in Goshen. This first-time event will feature a live auction in which people attending can enjoy pizza and other refreshments during the evening. An auction flyer has been placed in the church mailboxes, along with two posted on the church bulletin boards with all the details of the event. Please plan to attend and participate in what should be an enjoyable evening of fellowship, while supporting the needy in our community.

So if you've been thinking about joining us now is the time to come find out more! We will have a gathering next Thursday evening, February 6 at 6:00 p.m. for a meal, to connect with other women, and to discuss the possible format and details of the group. You will have the opportunity to decide after this exploratory gathering whether you'd like to join the group. Kindly RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
if you would like to come. Group description: If you’re looking for a place to find spiritual inspiration, learn from others’ stories and experiences, eat great food, build community, and connect with women of different stages and ages at Berkey then this is a group for you! We are a small group of women who meet once a month (rotating houses), socialize over a delicious meal, and share from our lives, with some emphasis on spiritual growth. You may be participating in another small group with your spouse or family and still join us.
Soup, Bread and a Show
On February 5th we will have a soup and bread meal beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a magic show following at 6:45 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. There will be childcare for the very young but this show is geared toward the whole family. Let us know you are coming
!Tentatively, on February 26, we will be having another soup and bread meal and this event will include a Talent Show hosted by our very own Allan Rudy-Froese. All those with special talents to share are invited to contact Allan to sign up. Again, childcare is provided for the very young but all children are invited to participate. Look for a sign up sheet for both these events and plan to come.
Care Packages for College Students
Following the meal and show on Wednesday, February 5, the MYF will be assembling care packages for college students - both regular attenders and those away at college. You are encouraged to bring items for the care packages: granola bars, raisins, candy, snacks, school supplies, etc. Homemade goodies are especially appreciated! Bring non-perishable items to church before the 5th or drop off fresh items that day.
Celebrating the Gift
Talking about our sexuality can stir up experiences and feelings that are painful and troubling. This is normal. So we encourage you to do what you need to do to care for yourself: talk to one of the pastors or a trusted friend, excuse yourself from parts of the service or Christian education sessions that you find disturbing or painful, or visit another church on a particular Sunday. This Sunday, February 2, our topic will be sex and sexuality in marriage. If this will make you uncomfortable, you can certainly attend another church that day. Please note that this series will include both Worship and Christian Education time for Junior Youth - Adults. The configuration of MYF and adult Christian education classes will change from Sunday to Sunday. Members of the Sexuality Planning Committee will generally lead the classes. In future weeks the classes will sometimes be intergenerational so we can hear each other across the generations. View the brochure
