Letter from the President
Hello Everyone,                                                     
Wow how quick a year goes by and what a fantastic year!  I want  to thank our Board of Directors, Past President Sandy Tuttle, Shannon Butler, Abby Oglesbee, Karen Haack, Natalie Ardis,  Jessica Ferguson, Kelli Van Stry, Ava Bianchino and our officers, Secretary Stacie Kidwell, Treasurer  Debra Farrell, Vice President Kelly Willey, and President-Elect Kristen Brenner for their time and leadership this past year and all that we have accomplished. 
Our Association is in great shape financially, coming in under budget this year in part by increasing revenues from outside sources.  While costs have risen we did not have the need to increase membership dues as FAR and other Associations have this year.
The FIRM Golf Tournament was the most successful fundraiser in the history of MLKAR raising over $32,000 for FIRM of which $5,000 came from RPAC.  We also donated another $8,000 to various charities throughout the Keys.
Thanks to Sandy Tuttle and Christine Todd-Young we obtained a $10,000,000 grant from Florida Association of Realtors for Habitat for Humanity for affordable housing in the Keys.
The MLS Committee, Sandy Tuttle as chair, Ava Bianchino, Lynn Lucas, Jim Willey, Jody Owen, and Ruth Pasquale brought us Agent Inbox, a great tool for scheduling showings and a much improved tax program.
Lea Ruesch, our education committee chair continues to bring great speakers and content to our membership.
I want to say a very special thank you to my mentor Brian Schmitt who gave me incredible support this year.  Thanks to Brian, Representative Raschein and Abby Oglesbee, our voices and concerns were heard in Tallahassee before Governor Rick Scott and the Director of Economic Opportunity Jessie Pannuccio regarding our critical permitting and affordable housing issues. 
A BIG THANK YOU to our CEO Wayne Carter and his assistant Amanda Jorgensen.  Wayne has done an exceptional job as CEO and we are very fortunate to have found him.  Not only has the level of customer service to our membership greatly improved over the past two years Wayne has brought in outside sources of revenue to ensure membership dues stay the same, researched and implemented changing our Association to a non-profit 501c6 (saving us thousands of dollars in taxes each year) eliminated an antiquated auditing system and has done so much more.  His commitment to his position is second to none.
I especially want to thank all of you that have served on committees and that have given your time.  We still have so much to do so please get involved, have a voice, care.
I look forward to passing the reigns over to our Past President Kristen Brenner.  Her leadership and enthusiasm will lead our Association through another great year.

Dear MLKAR Members, Affiliates and Friends,
As this will be the last Newsletter of the year I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone for making this a wonderful place to work.  I am so lucky to have two wonderful bosses and partners in the past two years, Lisa Ferringo and Sandy Tuttle.  They are supportive, understanding, helpful and care deeply about our Association, serving you our members and it shows.  We’ve come a long way and made numerous improvements since I started in 2014.  None of this would have been possible without the wonderful support provided by Lisa, Sandy, all the Board of Directors, Members and Affiliates.  I am truly blessed to work with and serve such a great group of professionals.
Looking ahead to 2016 I am very excited to have Kristen Brenner as the Incoming President.  Kristen has proven herself to be a truly wonderful and supportive individual that cares passionately about our Association.  Our new Board Members on the slate for 2016 (David Grego, Charlie Brown & Ruth Pasquale) are also wonderful, upbeat and will be a great contribution our Board.  If you read the list of accomplishments at the beginning of this Newsletter you may be impressed, but that is not even half of the accomplishments this year and it would not have been possible without Lisa’s leadership and inspiration. 
I would like to thank the following Board Members for all their hard work this year: Lisa Ferringo, Kristen Brenner, Kelly Willey, Debra Farrell, Stacie Kidwell, Sandy Tuttle, Ava Bianchino, Jessica Ferguson, Natalie Ardis, Kelli Van Stry, Shannon Butler, Abby Oglesbee & Karen Haack.  I would also like to thank the following Committee Members for their dedicated service this year:
