Welcome to the August
e-news bulletin from Carers Leeds

Hello and welcome to this latest newsletter from Carers Leeds.
In this edition we've got information about grants to help you take a break, we put a spotlight on our young adult carer support service and we've teamed up with Leeds arts organisation Skippo on a great new creative project. Take a look...

Need a break from caring?

Taking a break from your caring role is important so you can recharge and look after your health. A break could be half an hour out of your daily routine to read your favourite book or maybe even a trip away to see the sea!

To help you take a break, we're delighted to let you know that the Leeds City Council grant scheme Time for Carers is now open for applications. Carers can apply for a grant of up to £250 to cover the cost of something that gives you a break (gym membership, day trip, kindle etc). For full details and to apply, visit

Service spotlight

We're proud to support anyone in Leeds who provides unpaid care for another person, but we know that not all carers need that same support. So, we have a wide range of specialist services to meet the individual needs of carers throughout Leeds.
Each month we're going to introduce one of our services and this month is the YAC service.
Take a look at this blog for more details about young adult carers, and the support they receive from Carers Leeds:

Lets paint some windows!

We love to find ways to share the creativity of carers and have teamed up with Skippko for the last few years on some really interesting projects. This latest project ‘Windows’ is a creative ‘at home’ project that asks carers to capture the view from their window, using acetate and glass pens.
We have 30 ‘Windows’ packs to send out to carers across Leeds.  The packs will contain all the art materials and instructions you’ll need to get involved. No previous art or craft experience is needed.
Each window will  then be gathered back together and made into a group piece of work – a 3D perspex ‘house of windows’, sharing the many views from across Leeds.
