The Winners: Words Unlocked 2016
“My kids have responded so well. Even the ones who showed no interest at the beginning have begun to chip away at their hesitation, appreciating the poems we are reading and creating pieces themselves. The kids are opening up and diving in...."
Kendra Hendrix, Teacher at Owensboro Day Treatment Center, Kentucky
After reading through 1,000+ poems and conducting three rounds of reviewing, we are excited to announce the winning poems for Words Unlocked 2016. This year, for the first time ever, we have a tie for 1st Place!
Those winning poems are Furious, written by C.R. from the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center in Utah and My Reality, written by Kevin from Duval Academy in Florida.
Our Reviewing Artists also selected two Second Place Winners, a Third Place Winner and four poems meriting High Commendation. All the the Finalist Poems are available HERE, on our website.
Also, if you haven’t tuned in yet, we encourage you to listen to the Words Unlocked Podcasts, available HERE.
