Knitted Knockers Knit-A-Thon
October 21st Noon-5pm
Here at LambShoppe we are hosting a Knitted Knockers knit-a-thon in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month. I mean we are all aware that breast cancer is a thing right? But are you aware Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty and uncomfortable. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can't be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers on the other hand are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast.

We want to make as many Knitted Knockers as our little fingers can muster. As you might already know, the following week, Sunday October 28th, is the Making Strides against Breast Cancer 5k and they need our Knitted Knockers! We want to support our community so a portion of the days proceeds will go to help fund Great Knockers Again. This group of local ladies have been knitting and crocheting hundreds of Knitted Knockers for Denver breast cancer survivors.

Well, lets talk more about our event. Here at LambShoppe on Sunday, October 21st from noon to 5pm our staff with the help of volunteers of Great Knockers Again  will be teaching 3 different ways to make these breast prosthetics; DPN, Magic Loop and Crochet and we will have a table designated to each technique. This is a drop in and out event but we still want to know you are coming. Please call 303-322-2223 to sign up. We would love for you to come. If you want to contribute but cannot make the event we will be collecting Knitted Knockers through the end of October.
Upcoming Classes at LambShoppe!
This lovely shawl features a simple all over lace pattern that makes this an easy project to knit. This cozy and elegant scarf is knit with one of Rowan’s newest and luxurious yarns, Classic Alpaca, a blend of 57% alpaca and 43% cotton. This DK weight yarn has a beautiful brushed texture around a chained construction. Dyed and milled in Italy this yarn is certain to give you the wow factor that everyone will envy. Join Mary Carol for this one day quick class Monday, November 5th, 6-8pm

Its not too late to sign up for this class! Have you seen our samples in the shoppe and said “ I have to have that!?!” Now’s your chance. You will learn to read a “geometric” crochet chart and continue working a pattern to create a shawl everyone will envy. Pick any of Steve Rousseau’s Patterns from Ravelry.

The rug punching craze is hitting yet again! If you want to jump on board, come and join us on a Saturday for a full day dedicated to rug punching classes. Whether you have never heard of this fun technique or you are on your way to becoming a rug punching master, we have the perfect class for you. Choose from a pumpkin-themed Introductory class, a Next Steps class, or a Design-Your-Own workshop, all taught by the fabulous Rebecca of Storyteller Wool.

If you're reading this, then you probably don't need a beginning knitter course, but everyone could use more friends. Here's an opportunity to get your friends addicted to the fine fiber art that has occupied your hands and your time from that first warm embrace of supple cashmere to that fourth artisan yarn bowl that rounded out your collection. No, this class isn't for you - it's for the friends you wish you could spend more time with, if only they would learn to make fine things with spun wool. Time to get them hooked. Starting November 10th.

Purl Soho’s fabulous Jasmine Scarf pattern.  We made it out of the luxurious, soft, luscious Juniper Moon’s Herriot 100% baby alpaca.   Juniper Moon Farm's Herriot and Purl Soho’s pattern are fantazmagorical (have no idea what the word is, but it sounds right to describe this project)! This cozy 4-ply yarn has a slight halo and varies between a light worsted weight and a DK.  We’re knitting it as a DK.  Each row you knit creates columns of caliper cables.  Come see our sample in the Shoppe.
Cather Sweater with Whitney

A new forever favorite. Timeless simplicity with layering versatility, Cather, a sweater that effortlessly fits for a tailored, chic silhouette.

Cather is worked flat in pieces from the bottom up. Body begins with a Garter Stitch hem, moving into an elongated short row back. Sleeves are worked flat, beginning with a Garter Stitch cuff, then set in and seamed. Garter Stitch collar is picked up and worked in the round. It might sound like a lot but this sweater is all about the subtle details that will make everyone say "OMG You made that?!?"

Eyelet Cowl

Free class with purchase of materials

If you are one of the few people who have not already made one of these for everyone on your Christmas list,  well then this freebie class is just for you! Made with one skein of Plymouth Aireado. Knit on size 10 needles, this quick knit is fun and easy to make and just before the holidays its exactly what everyone needs.

Hey Beth! What's on your needles?
I've been knitting the Icon Shawl by Shelly Anderson in Shibui Birch.

This is an ultra soft wrap that will be  great to curl up in as the nights are getting cooler. Icon is worked flat in stockinette stitch, the triangles are worked with German Short Rows to form the wedges of color.  If you don't know how to do German Short rows this is the perfect project to learn this technique. It is an easy knit and a great project to knit in front of the TV.

I am making this for a store sample, it should be in the store the end of next week so you can see it for yourself.  Added bonus, the pattern is free with yarn purchase!

If you are wondering if Beth made her top too, but of course she did! Not only is Beth a great knitter but she is a spectacular crocheter too! The top is the Time-Honored Sweater by Natasha Robarge from Interweave Crochet Summer 2018 made from Shibui Reed..... hmmm I'm sensing a theme here.
Well this is our version of the famous 2 buck chuck. So we are doing the two buck book chuck, all the books at the front of the store with a red slash are.... you guessed it TWO BUCKS. I know what you are thinking, "$2 for a knitting book is too good to believe," and you're right. Mary Carol has a wild hair and wants to clear out some space for all the yummy yarn we will be getting in, so literally it is a win WIN! So quick, come in and snag the deal of the century before she changes her mind.
