Spring is right around the corner, or so they say...

So regardless of all this snow, Punxsutawney Phil claims that we are going to have an early spring. Which is great news!  Our spring yarn is coming in and it has us hoping that that groundhog has it right this year. Here are a few of the staffs favorites....
Manos del Uruguay's newest addition and our latest addiction is called Feliz.  This yarn is certainly making us all happy.  It is 70% merino superwash and 30% modal, giving the structure that we love from wool with the impeccable drape of modal. Now I know I don't need to give you any project ideas, you could simply sift through your queue of a hundred shawls that all require fingering weight yarn.  But if you'd like to avoid the hassle of doing that then check out Late Harvest on Ravelry. It is the photograph above in color Wildflowers (see . .  perfect for spring!). We stumbled upon this pattern when we were looking at various projects Feliz was used for.  It takes full advantage of the wonderful dyes that Manos is known for.
Alright so you may know about this yarn. Classic Elite had a wildly successful yarn called Seedling that was discontinued about a year ago. Well Juniper Moon heard your cries and bought the line. Now newly repackaged as Bud, this 100% organic cotton yarn is a soft single plied yarn with a thread binder that gives it the distinct nubby look that so many of us fell in love with.

Well 'what would you make with it' you ask? We were thinking that oldie but goodie Chevron Baby Blanket by PurlBee has been a long standing classic for so many and it is perfect for this comeback kid. Cindy, here at the shop, is knitting it with the colors photographed above. The pattern calls for the yarn to be held doubled and we at the shoppe are thrilled with the result. Come by and check it out when you get a chance.
It's back and better than ever!  If you were one of the few that snagged a couple balls of Splash when we got it in last fall you will be delighted to hear that Lang expanded their colors this season.  And if you weren't one of those few people then you'll want to come in and see what all the fuss was about.  Last fall we only had 3 colors. Now we have them all!  The yarn is designed to mimic the spray from a wave, the bright dots of color are spread over the cotton yarn in waves. Spun from fine cotton, this yarn is comfortable to wear and is a pleasure to knit with. it takes 2 skeins to knit this fun and easy scarf that is pictured above.

Hey Rachel! What's on your needles?
Alright so sometimes when you think you have seen it all there comes a pattern that gets you scratching your head saying "how the heck did they do that?"  And this is one of those patterns.

Published in Vogue a couple of years ago The DropStitch Openwork Wrap caught my eye and I thought I would give it a shot when we got in Plymouth's Viento. An alpaca, bamboo blend that knits up bulky but the chatelaine construction makes the yarn light and with a great drape.

I cut out a repeat and am picking up stitches to finish the ends. It will be a shoppe sample and if there is enough interest I might teach a class on this technique. So come in and take a look.  Let us know if you'd be interested.
