Spring has Sprung!

What's recently sprung up in the Shoppe...

You might be asking yourself "it IS spring right?" One day its 70 degrees and short season and the next we have to unpack our heavy sweaters for the 40 degree temperature outside. So the weather might not know what season we are supposed to be in, but our new yarn in the shoppe is screaming spring time. Now, you are probably thinking what I was thinking "Spring yarn? I'll pass. I am more of a winter yarn type of girl."  Well, this season I had to eat my words. Yarn manufacturers are really on to something great. With more and more yarn coming in it is harder and harder to choose my favorites, and boy is it hard this time.  I can only imagine, it's like picking your favorite child. Except for my mother, I'm obviously the favorite... right mom?

First up: Urth's Uneek Fingering. Hubba hubba! This yarn is some of the most seductive yarn that we have had in a long time. The solids are extremely saturated and the self striping variegated are so flirtatious I dare you not to go home with one. What are people making with it? - you ask - Well let me tell you. Click here to see the breath taking Butterfly / Papillon Shawl .... but I warn you, clicking on this link will most likely lead to starting this project.

Next to the plate: Katia's Fair Cotton Craft. These huge skeins pack a punch but not for your wallet. Just one skein makes an adorable baby blanket, kids' sweater, little girls' dress or an adult tunic?!?!?  Don't believe me?  Click here to see what Katia has to say about it and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the pattern support. Oh and did I mention the best part? All these patterns just take one skein! Perhaps I did say that, but did you also stop to realize what that means? 1 skein of yarn = 2 ends to weave in! 1 skein = who cares about dye lots, all anyone needs is in one skein!!

Last but certainly not least: Gedifra's Aborea. Though I do not speak Italian, I betcha that Aborea means "I just gotta have." This chantette yarn is as light as air but knits up on a US 10. Click here to check out the Italian pattern designs, these garments are sure to be met with everyone asking "You made that?!?!"  Now that's what I'm talking about. Spring is short, let's make spring and summer wear in record time without the bulk.

Upcoming Classes

Athos Cowl with Sandi

Clever construction makes this cowl one of LambShoppe’s favorites. This is a pattern from Shibui and the yarn of course knits up scrumptious.  Athos is worked flat in 2 pieces and joined in the center. The distinctive shape is produced by using German short rows. There are felted bags, and there are FELTED BAGS!  It is a textured tote created from the bottom up with a series of ridges, then graduates to shell-shaped rows, and finishes with ridges and a handle built into the ridges. Space is limited. Click here for dates and times.
