This position is the primary organizational contact and internal advisor for legislative and public policy matters. The director fosters relationships with key members of government and Earth system science affiliate groups; ensures appropriate NCAR/UCAR participation in government forums; works with policymakers, leaders of government, and affiliate industry councils to influence public policy; monitors government initiatives; and advocates for specific plans to advance NCAR/UCAR’s interests in Earth system science. Director of NCAR's Climate and Global Dynamics Lab (CGD)
CGD conducts directed research that discovers the key processes in each component of the Earth’s climate system and the interactions among them; represents this understanding in models and thereby provides a basis for the prediction of climate; and applies this understanding and these models to scientific problems of societal relevance. Director of NCAR's Earth Observing Lab (EOL)
EOL provides state-of-the-art atmospheric observing systems, leadership, and scientific expertise to enable the university-based research community to advance climate, weather, and related Earth system science. EOL manages the majority of the NSF Lower Atmosphere Observing Facilities and deploys them in support of observational field campaigns for researchers from universities, government agencies, and NCAR and in support of education. NCAR is accepting requests from U.S. university researchers for use of supercomputing resources. Computing requests are accepted in the atmospheric and closely related sciences for projects that are supported by the National Science Foundation.
