IMPACT 100 ANNUAL MEETING
A special thank you to our Annual Meeting Sponsor:
Events Chair: Karen Anderson
Dear Impact 100 Member,
Invitations are out, plans are made, finalists are selected, and excitement is brewing about who our 2012 IMPACT winners will be. I would like to encourage all of you to attend the IMPACT Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 25th. It is really a fun and exciting experience. It is so beneficial for the membership to have the opportunity to hear these wonderful non-profits present their projects, to vote onsite, and to celebrate the announcement of the winners.
Although our bylaws require an annual meeting, it is because of your support and attendance that we are able to have such a special event. Due to limited administrative funds and the costs involved in putting on this special dinner meeting, we have to charge for attendance. The monies that you pay to attend include not only dinner, but help to defer the cost of: invitations, postage, room, service, decorations, plaques given to the previous winners, grant finalist presenter's and accountant's dinners, video of the meeting, printing/supplies of all packet information, etc.
Please join us and again, we say THANK YOU, for your membership and in helping to make Owensboro a better place for all to live.

Member Perspectives About the Annual Meeting...
Why Should You Attend The Annual Meeting?
Cathy Foster, 2007 - 2012 member
Looking at your busy schedule you may wonder, “ how can I possibly squeeze in one more thing?” “Is this Annual Meeting really important?’ I would like to answer a resounding “YES”! I have been a member of IMPACT 100 for five years and since attending the Annual Dinner my first year, I have never missed. I love seeing the anticipation build on the faces of the finalist as the evening progresses. Then, when the winners are announced, seeing the excitement and joy of the winners as they realize what the money will mean to their organization. As I left my first Annual Dinner, I realized I had truly helped make an impact on those organizations.
I asked some other IMPACT 100 members to share their thoughts about the importance of attending the Annual Dinner.
Beverly Estes – 2011 & 2012 member
‘ I attended the annual IMPACT meeting for the first time last year. I seldom let anything interfere with my Tuesday/Thursday exercise classes, but I felt an obligation to become thoroughly familiar with everything involved in my commitment of $1000. I’m glad I did. It was inspiring to meet so many generous women who are working to make an impact in our community. I felt honored to participate in enabling two winning groups make their dreams come true. We are bombarded with negativity daily; it was refreshing to spend an evening with positive people. My spirit got the workout that evening!’
Shannon Meyers – Founding Member
“My husband and I are parents to three young children, and after becoming a founding member in 2006, I simply didn't know if our finances would allow me to participate annually. Immediately upon my return home from the first annual meeting, I told my husband, "It was amazing, and we have to find a way for me to join again!" Quite frankly, I was unprepared for the emotional experience of that first annual meeting. Proudly, I've been an IMPACT 100 member ever since. For me, attendance at our annual meeting is what membership is all about. It is my opportunity to hear each applicant's appeal, which invariably causes me to reconsider my initial opinions of the applicants' projects. Listening firsthand about the proposed projects educates me about the needs of our community, which in turn creates a humble sense of gratitude for all of my blessings. If any of our members have never attended the annual meeting, I highly encourage them to do so. Admittedly, it is a time commitment in and of itself, but the applicants have earned the opportunity to be heard and we should be respectful of their efforts to improving the lives within our community. Trust me, no one walks away from the annual meeting wishing they had been elsewhere!”

“ As a board member of IMPACT 100, I leave the annual meeting with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of pride. Accomplishment and pride that Impact 100 had provided five organizations, organizations that were selected by the entire membership of IMPACT 100, to further their worth-while goals. Goals that not only aid individuals, but also benefit our entire community.’
Becky Stewart - 2010 – 2012 member
“A highlight of being involved in IMPACT 100 is attending the annual meeting which culminates months of actively looking at the heart and soul of the Owensboro community through its non-profit organizations.”
Anne Baker Leazenby – Founding Member
“The Annual Meeting is the most important meeting I attend all year. In two hours you hear from each nonprofit group finalist. Then, approximately a quarter of a million dollars will be given to the two well deserving groups decided on that evening. The charities are changed for life, in one evening, thanks to the fabulous women of Owensboro! I love it!!”
Thank you ladies. I couldn’t have said it better!!
