The Power of One!SM

January/February 2017
Welcome to IMPACT 2017!
IMPACT 100 Owensboro President Marianne Smith Edge
As we begin Year 12 of IMPACT 100 Owensboro, I want to thank and acknowledge each of you for your commitment to making an impact to our community! Through your gifts, we have helped our nonprofit community enhance their services and, ultimately, transform lives in our community.

Conversation, transformation and empowerment are shared by all of us and it cannot be better expressed than the words that are reflected in the poem "She is..." printed on the IMPACT scarf released by Eric Adams, Adams & Sons in late 2016. The poem was written by Jamie Pate from Evansville for IMPACT 100 Owensboro.  Enjoy!
She is...
She is the conversation. The aspirations in the corners of your mind and heart, and on the tip of your tongue, trembling to escape from parted lips; the effects rippling like a cool breeze, and enriching the lives of everything it wraps itself around. Anything accomplished or left undone is engulfed in this conversation. Listen to the possibilities. Every word is the source of a connection, a personal touch – reverberating a deliberate action, planted with devout intentions that maneuver beyond even the exceptional.
She is empowerment. The nucleus of a transformation. Where a transition between a dream and reality occurs, this motivational force encapsulates achievement with profound grace. Saturated in femininity, contagiously inspiring conviction, the ethos

of this power commands change: locally and globally.

She is fruition. An open invitation to the philanthropy party. A confident “cheers” to barriers and overcoming every boundary through contribution, diligence and engagement. Accomplishing the outcome and the celebration, the mission and the impact.
She is one, one hundred, one thousand women. A single unit, embodying diversity, culture and prestige education. Single-handedly, she establishes the atmosphere. She is the head of the table and the prevailing voice in the room. She is power in numbers.
She is Impact 100!
We look forward to your continued participation in 2017! Invite your friends, neighbors and colleagues to join us at the informational receptions in February and March. We will continue to make a difference.
The 100 percent silk, Italian IMPACT scarf commemorates the work of IMPACT 100 Owensboro. It is available in a limited quantity at Adams & Sons, located in the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Owensboro, or at The Bakers Rack or Excursions in Wesleyan Park Plaza. Half of the purchase price comes back to IMPACT to enable us to launch a new initiative to introduce the next generation of young women to the joys of philanthropy and community involvement. Read more about the project in a recent article by Owensboro Living.

New Member Website Launched
The IMPACT 100 Owensboro Technology Committee has been working hard to expand online access for members in 2017. The website now offers a streamlined membership sign up process and a “members-only” section just for current members.

To sign up for membership, visit and click "Join" to begin the process.
The new system has its own built-in and secure payment capability, eliminating the need for third party sites like Pay Pal. The online form allows you to pay by credit card or check or request an invoice. Those who still want a paper form can download one from the website.

As a reminder, all membership forms must be completed by March 31. Payments may be made now through September 30. And don’t forget that 100 percent of your contribution is tax deductible!
In addition to the new online membership form, the revamped website offers a “members-only” section where information about focus groups, site visits and committee meetings will be available for those who want to participate. Once you have created an online user account you will be able to access this information by clicking on “Visit Member Site” in the upper right hand corner of the website. We are excited to roll out these changes and encourage you to go online and create your account today!

To sign up on a mobile device, download the Twitter app from App Store (for iPhones), Google Play Store (for Android phones) or Windows Phone Store (for windows phones). Once installed on your phone, the app will walk you through the process for creating an account. Need more help? Visit the Twitter Help Center.

For Instagram, you have to set up your account and do all posting through the mobile app, also available from the App Store, Google Play Store or Windows Phone Store. Once your account is established though, you can change settings, follow people and like posts on your desktop by logging in at Need more help? Check out Instagram resources at
On both Twitter and Instagram, you can follow people and organizations just like you can on Facebook. You can post, like and share just like Facebook as well.
